Humans are highly visual creatures. Our brains are powerful organs as they can identify visuals watched for only 13 milliseconds. Our life is wired with stories - we have been using storytelling since ages to interact, to simplify a complex concept and to memorize things. It moulds our thinking process and shapes our way of life.
With each passing day, as marketing in the digital ecosystem is becoming more challenging, marketers and advertisers are on an undying quest for novelty. Owing to the shiftingusage patterns, abundance of information, competition and limited attention span, it has become necessary to make visual storytelling part of the social media marketing strategy. This will aid in attracting audiences and cultivating a deeper connection with captivating content.
According to Cisco, by the year 2023, there will be a total of 5.3 billion Internet users. Meaning more opportunities in online marketing to cash in on. Visual storytelling content is a robust technique to connect with audiences on a human level. The ability of the human mind to tell a story through images or videos has captivated the business world for the past decades and now it can do the same for your social media marketing efforts.
What does visual storytelling content do for social media engagement?
The human brain is an outstanding creation, allowing it to quickly and easily create stories and images that can be stored in the short term memory and later used to remember things. This is why storytelling content works so well in social networking sites. In fact, stories evoke multiple emotions in viewers - they feel motivated, happy, intrigued and driven when they relate to your content.
Storytelling visual components such as video, infographic, multimedia and images make your audience feel good, informed and attached to a brand - the more they see, the more they remember.
As per a trusted source, global internet traffic from videos will make up 82% of all internet traffic by 2021. For this reason, you want to give your audience a taste of video storytelling content. For example, if you are promoting your blog on Facebook with a funny video of yours and the video is engaging, then it will get you a lot of likes and shares. It boosts retention and engagement like no other visual communication methods. Share stories of your origin, behind the scenes, the company’s aspirations and visions with the audience.
Create well-designed instructional infographics, data visualizations, facts & stats and education to improve your outreach. You can give it a title, a description, a few graphics and text and then use a link back to your website or blog. The idea is to get your audience visualized with your content. 72% of B2B marketers are relying on educational content to get more conversion.
Don’t be too technical because when people get too involved with your technical information, they tend to forget the rest of the piece. Keep it simple and easy to understand. This will not only ensure that you reach your target audience but will also make your content easy to share and distribute online.
Product development journey through 3D graphic is an excellent way to get your message across in a very visual manner. By using graphics, you can tell a story quickly and effectively. A graphic draws attention immediately, and many social media users are turned off by text in a tweet or a status update.
Give utmost importance to user-generated content. Make your audience the cynosure for your brand, they bring more authenticity and credibility to the brand as the new-age users love real-life stories.
Over to you
When you observe how visual storytelling content helps to enhance social media engagement, you will find that it can be an effective method to employ for any business. However, you need to ensure that you create visual content that is relevant to your product and that it has a natural appeal.

Wall posts, likes, comments, status, check-in, filters, hearts, memes, tweets and so on!
This is unequivocally not an unfamiliar language! It is indeed the language of the generation today.
If you spend a little or a lot of time on social media, you will know very profoundly and understand what we are talking about!
From nestling Cafe Coffee Day to sipping the coffee of your choice to going through the feeds of what your near and dear ones are up to, to ‘hearting’ what mesmerizes you and following what your favorite celebrity has to say, social media has become an integral part of everyone’s everyday life.
Social media at present has gained the position of being a critical part of the way people in most walks of life communicate and a key part of how work gets done — from corporations to government.
Social media allows you to do these four very important things:
Discover modernist ideas and trends.
Connect with existing & new audiences in profound ways.
Bring attention and traffic to your work.
Build, craft, and enhance your brand identity.
Connect with the people around the world.
Social media is hitherto being utilized for various social purposes. The four fundamental uses of the social media platforms form the acronym SLIM: sharing, learning, interacting, and marketing.
Sharing
With social media, you can share information and ideas in a number of ways. The numerous outlets give you the opportunity to publish your ideas in writing, with pictures, or with videos and voice recordings. You can also hyperlink your audience to fascinating articles, pictures, and videos.
Learning
Social media can additionally serve as personal learning. You can get updates about your friends and family, or learn about there whereabouts in the most convenient manner. The immediacy of the information flow allows you to get the gist of the most recent news almost at the time of their occurrences.
Interacting
Conceivably the most influential element of social media is their interactive nature. Social media breaks the traditional barriers of time and distance between people. With video chat technologies like Skype, google mate you can talk to people face-to-face anytime and from anywhere across the world.
Marketing
Social media platforms are being used for several marketing purposes. Businesses manipulate social media to promote themselves and their products. Nonprofit organizations make use of social media to raise funds and promote charity events. Individuals market themselves to prospective employers. And you can use social media to promote ideas and important events to you.
We are a part of the era where it is not possible to be physically connected to everybody we know. Our childhood friends, high school pals, best friends, teachers, and relatives staying abroad, the list is practically endless.
Today, a huge round of applause and thanks goes to social media connectivity for they cannot get any easier and more fun than this.

Consistency and quality are the fundamentals of social media marketing success and have not changed for decades! It would be an unfortunate assumption that you can just post whatever you darn well like and it will magically turn into money! That is not the case and the "old school" approaches simply do not work today.
I am referring to outdated methods such as trying to guess which social network they will like and then trying to follow them around to try and build a relationship there. This obviously does not work now because everyone has their own social network and those who don't like you won’t listen to your story. Even if you think your strategy is working, someone is out there who thinks exactly the opposite and there are ways to counteract that. It's called using analytics to track and watch for your social efforts and adjusting accordingly.
Let’s look at each platform:
Facebook
Many researchers suggest that one post per day is the best strategy, with a limit of two posts per day. Hubspot reported that pages under followers less than 10k reported a 50% decrease in engagement per post if they were updated once a day. You should update on Facebook at least 3 times a week.
LOW
SUGGESTED
HIGH
3 times/week
1 per day
2 per day
Twitter
With Twitter, there is no one size that fits all. How often to tweet? - it really depends on your business goals. If you are aiming to gain more engagement per tweet, then optimal frequency should not be more than 5 tweets a day. If you are targeting to generate more responses then you may tweet to your heart’s content. However, bear in mind tweeting aggressively can fill up a user’s feed and that may have both positive & negative results. Striking a balance is rather wise.
LOW
SUGGESTED
HIGH
1 tweet /day
5 tweets/day
Undefined
Instagram
On this platform, it is not the frequency that matters but it is the consistency that needs to be maintained. For example, you develop a habit of posting 1 per day and then reduce to 2 per week; you are likely to see a decrease in followers.
LOW
SUGGESTED
HIGH
1 post /day
Consistency
15 – 30 Posts
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a professional platform; it is pretty clear the best frequency to post on this platform. The best practice is to post a minimum of twice a week and no more than 1 per day.
LOW
SUGGESTED
HIGH
2 post /week
1 post /day
1 post /day
Bottom line - Above figures are the result of research and study conducted by various experts in the industry but to find what would work best for you, would require an understanding of your business goals, audience and a clear marketing strategy.

Leveraging on social media marketing is the first approach for entrepreneurs, creating profiles is even easier, but how to reap rewards with compelling campaigns every month is a different ball game. When you have just started
out business, it needs more attention on product planning, sourcing, promotion and distribution. If your business vision outlines future expansion then it is smart for you to outsource the services.
Integrating holistic digital marketing strategy will help you survive and thrive in today's scenario. You need to consider a few factors that will illustrate why outsourcing media work is wiser than keeping an in-house team.
The cost
Before the advent of the abrupt and catastrophic COVID 19 crisis, companies were firmly on their way to growth. But, COVID-19 has stalled businesses and made them hibernate their attempts to encourage digital marketing. Now, as the growth prospects are shrinking, it is wise to outsource media activities to an agency, rather than paying in-house staff. Cost has always been a big factor, in an agency you can avail SEO, Ads, social media, analytics, content, graphic designing services at a considerable low cost.
The expertise
You can hire an intern or a fresher with limited knowledge, but they will not be able to think on a broader perspective. Agencies bring a diverse range of expertise on the table and their focus of attention can add a lot more value to your business.
Employee turnover can be devastating
If you give the entire responsibilities of social media to one person and one day he/she decides to leave the company or an unplanned leave then it will cause disruption in your online presence and efforts.
.
I am listing some reasons when you should decide it's time to hire a paid media agency and they are;
When you want to grow your business at an exponential rate - here targeted paid ads through Google/Facebook experts will fuel your revenue.
When you need to invest your time on other operations.
When you want to make decisions based on insights not instincts - here, Google analytics and other SEO experts will be extremely helpful.
When you are a novice in the field.
When you are losing clients and opportunities - well-curated digital strategy will help you bounce back.
When you want to scale up in a new market - here, an agency can research and study the desired market on your behalf and help you understand the intricate details.
You don’t have time to stay updated with changing market and search engine trends - agencies remain well-versed with the trends and know how to leverage them to maximize the benefits.
All things considered,
Outsourcing some of the operations is a wise move for forward-thinking businesses and individuals. Agencies can help you cultivate and implement a marketing plan as per your brand’s needs.
