Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
180 Creative was established in June 2012. Our headquarter is located in Katowice, Poland. For some time we have been developing our small branch in New York. We are currently working on the necessary documents that will allow us to set up an official subsidiary in NYC. I am there 4 times a year visiting our clients from the USA. We create dedicated web and mobile applications and outsource development teams. We provide services to the clients all over the world from USA to Australia. My role in the company is to plan and implement the company's development strategy and expand the scope of our company's operations. Our verified reviews of satisfied customers can be read under our profile of GoodFirms.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
I've always wanted to help companies solve their problems. I think that creating dedicated software is the answer to that in some situations. Sometimes there are financial benefits, sometimes a company is saving time, sometimes it is needed in marketing. Each company has some problems that 180 Creative can solve by creating dedicated web and mobile software.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Through the years, we have accomplished a lot and lost a lot. We became a stable and quickly developing company because we drew conclusions out of our mistakes. As I come back to those times I can see that outsourcing to the outsiders was our biggest mistake. The problems with communication and a work flow occurred too often. It resulted in our clients’ dissatisfaction due to huge delays in work. We do not make the same mistakes twice so now we develop the projects using our own employees. Thanks to that we have more control and our clients can feel safe and confident that their project will be implemented in high quality and on time.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Many companies try to get a project at all costs, even if they do not have the resources. Then, they quickly look for a subcontractor to meet the terms of the contract. As a rule, it ends badly for the client. We refuse to do the project if we do not have the resources and set a different date for starting the work with the client. This solution may be a bit uncomfortable for the client. Our clients can be sure that thanks to this approach their project will always be delivered on time and with a high quality.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
It does not matter to us what our client’s company does. In every industry we can implement an interesting application. So far we have worked for industries such as: automotive, arms industry, start up, marketing, insurance, medical, banking, construction. Our clients often come back and usually the first project for the client is the beginning of many years of cooperation. This fact, of course, is confirmed by the verified references of our clients.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The most important part is the detailed specification of the scope of the project. Development of detailed specifications and wireframes is a key. The more detailed specification and wireframes, the more accurately we can predict the time needed for the implementation. That is why every project with a client starts with the preparation of detailed specifications and wireframes.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
It depends on an app. Development of the frontend and backend requires the same amount of time.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
The most important thing is to create an app for the most popular platforms. Nowadays, they are Android and iOS. We believe that having applications for both of these platforms is a must have.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
We would recommend our client to develop application on both the platform since nowadays; both the platforms are widely used & accepted.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We always recommend hybrid solutions to our clients. Using such technologies as Ionic framework + Angular + Symfony or React saves a lot of time, money, and the application works just as well (if not better) than done natively.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The evaluation is always done in the same way. First, we create a detailed specification and then we count the number of working hours needed for the implementation, which we multiply by our rate. The result of this equation is the evaluation that is sent to the customer.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We always try to divide the payment into several milestones. We’re collecting one part before the implementation as an advance payment, then the next part for the front end, another part after backend is done and a part after implementation. The bigger the design, the milestones are bigger as well. This solution allows us to maintain financial liquidity and the client does not have to send a large amount in one transfer.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Since 2017, we are not taking up projects below $ 10k USD. This is a minimal rate for the project where we can involve two developers for a period of about one month.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2017?
We have worked on a project which has minimum costed $3000 & maximum $30000 in 2017
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We do not provide counseling in the area of business models. It is the clients’ part to choose/create the business model. We take care of the development part.
