APPVALES Executive Interview
Max Litvinov
CEO
Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GoodFirms became quite valuable for us being in the early stage of our path. Having a possibility to attract clients by showing them our best is what we value most working with GoodFirms.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Appvales is not just “another” dev shop, this is a solution delivery partner that makes great Mobile products for our clients. We care about the success of our partners and create a product-oriented atmosphere through our employees. This allows us to reach the boldest goals and be on the one line with product owners.
My personal mission is to be a cultural and business brain making Appvales attractive both for clients and employees.
My personal mission is to be a cultural and business brain making Appvales attractive both for clients and employees.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The initial idea was to help people build amazing successful mobile apps by sharing our experience and knowledge by building not just “another company” but a mobile community that delivers.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Only in-house employees. We are keeping an eye on the internal processes and this allows us to keep a great quality.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We are changing the offshore development market by building business integrated product teams in every project we have. Not just doing tasks, we care about future success suggesting the best solutions for each particular project.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
85% of our clients are repetitive and 90% are ready to recommend us.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
- Clear idea and understanding of what are you trying to achieve
- Product Concept with UX/UI design and Specification
- Being open to discussions and answering questions
These are three main points that allow us to understand an accurate timeline for every App. If the client has just an idea we propose him to start with the Product Concept Phase that will make his idea ready for estimation.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
There is no answer to this question as each project is special and requires an individual approach. I would say that on average the development of MVP takes from 1 to 2 months.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
First of all, we need to analyze the product and core features (functional requirements). Then we understand the Non-functional requirements and transition requirements. These 3 steps allow proposing the most suitable tech solution.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
If there is nothing complicated we suggest starting with both platforms by using a hybrid framework as it allows to make development cost-effective, but if a client needs Native development but doesn’t have an available budget to cover 2 platforms then we suggest starting with iOS as it has more payable users.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
The best way is to start with Hybrid development as it allows to optimize costs for the development and launch faster covering 2 platforms at once.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The complexity of UI and UX, features, and non-functional requirements.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We are working on an hourly basis but strict to the estimation and product development plan, so we are not overcharging but keep cash flow under control. Fixed-price projects are mostly an exception and only on a Milestone basis.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
In order to start working, we need to be sure that there is enough work for at least a month of development. The budget and rates are individual and usually depend on the overall complexity of the App and specialists involved.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
The minimum price for product development was around $6,5k.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
Personally, I prefer a subscription model as it allows us to control income, but it usually depends on the product and solution that our client offers to the market so there is no clear answer. Everything is individual.
