Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Code Brew Labs is a Mobile App Development Company founded in 2013. I am the CEO and co-founder of this firm. Since we started in Chandigarh, India, we have established ourselves as a trusted name in the world of mobile app development across the globe. We grew to a global reach with offices in the USA, Mexico, and Dubai, creating solutions for many companies; some of them part of the Fortune 500. As a co-founder and the CEO of Code Brew Labs, I head the business operations with well-defined strategies and roadmaps.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
We started Code Brew Labs with two parallel visions in mind:
> To provide industry leading software development services at highly competitive prices, and
> To create prolific and growth-oriented job opportunities for young talent.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have an in-house team of more than 200 software developers. Our company is a vibrant mix-n-match, comprising of veteran coders and fresh, just out of college minds with great potential.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We take pride in being a solution provider, and not a development firm that pushes everyone for a mobile application. And that’s why we always emphasize on client satisfaction the most. Our scope analysis team gets in a thorough discussion with the clients to understand their needs properly. We proceed only if we deduce the client really needs an app. At the same time, we hire from the same institutes the top tech giants trust for their workforce. Our on-boarding process includes a well-designed training process to help the developers stand shoulder to shoulder with industry standards. And this is how we beat the quality-cost trade-off.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We do not limit ourselves to a particular industry, and thus, we have created highly cogent and pragmatic solutions for a wide spectrum of industries, including but not limited to e-commerce, fitness apps, education, blockchain, social networking, on-demand business apps, etc.
Speaking of repetitive customers; all our existing and previous clients come back to us. Be it adding a new feature or a solution for a new business idea; our clients always come back to us.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
See, it all begins with the scope of the project, and that goes without saying. The size of the project defines how much time we need to get the design, UI/UX and everything right. Our primary objective stays unchanged: to meet the client’s requirements and deliver the right product well within time, every time.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
Well, it’s not just the frontend, and the backend that counts, for database also plays an equally important role. That said, we also assign resources according to the project size and the amount of work that goes into it. With a team of more than 200 app experts, we get things done within a matter of 3 months.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
This is where the client preference takes center stage, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg, for project complexity, its size, and client budget also play a crucial role in finalizing the platform.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
Well, we suggest both, and why not? Both iOS and Android are massively popular operating stems and have their own strong markets. Missing out on either of them means leaving an entire user base altogether. However, there have been several instances when a client wanted to go for one platform for reasons ranging from budget to their own personal preference. In such cases, we make our decision based on the user base. We analyze the demographics of the client’s target market, see which operating system is more prevalent and the potential their business idea holds in it. Once all the brainstorming is done, we come up with a solution that suits their idea, requirements and their business goal in the most prolific way.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
It shouldn’t be Android or iOS, it should be Android AND iOS, for it’s all about covering the complete market. And as far as Native or Hybrid is concerned, we recommend Native apps to our clients as operating system libraries support Native apps better than Hybrid apps.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
Scope of the app, it’s size, resources required to it in terms of budget, workforce, and timeline, all these factors play a crucial role in the cost estimation process.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We have all the payment structure you mentioned in the question. Apart from these, we also charge on a team-based package where we assign a team to a client and charge them for the manpower assigned.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Not all clients come to us for complete app development; some of them approach us for developing a specific feature to be developed for their existing app. The cost of such a project depends on the complexity of the feature, the manpower needed to develop it, and the time required to do it.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
Last year has been really amazing for CodeBrewLabs. We worked on a variety of projects ranging vividly on the technology spectrum, from e-retail apps to CRM solutions to HRM system to ERP software, everything. We worked with basic app projects with essential functionalities the ones that start from $10,000 worth of budget. We also worked on many projects that even crossed the $500,000 mark. As I said, it’s all about the scope, the size and the underlying goal behind the project.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
Our expertise and experience in the mobile app development industry made us realize that offering customers a free mobile app with in-app purchases to gain access to additional benefits, features, or functions is the best way to go. It’s all about user experience; people like to pay for things that enhance their browsing, buying, and app-use experience. Clients come to us with a business idea; we educate them on how to make their app generate good ROI for them. Apart from in-app purchases, we recommend advertisements; affiliates and other marketing channels should be incorporated into the app.
Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
