Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
We’re a team of caffeinated designers, developers and Black Mirror fans who build premium user interfaces for companies like Warner Bros, Sandow, GMass, and other cool products out there.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
There are a lot of developers out there who want to build interesting products and not be tied to an office, a strict 9-5 schedule, and all that artificially imposed office culture. That’s what I aimed at when I transitioned from working full-time for companies in Los Angeles to consulting companies from all over the U.S. I wanted to build cool products and focus on how and what kind of problems I solve, not on how to dress for an office or where to live so I don’t have to commute for a long time. I’m actually located in Scottsdale, Arizona now, and our team members are working from Danemark, Bali, or different exotic places where they decide to travel. We even have someone from a small East European country: he’s great at over-OOP-ing everything.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
It’s all in-house. Even though we work remotely, building our own team, investing and growing is the main goal of our company right now. That being said, our main area of operations is USA.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We are specialized in building user interfaces and we are one of the best at that. I’m not going to tell you that we are experts at everything because that’s not true, and it’s not true for any agency out there. We are not the best at building a hight scalable AWS infrastructure (although we have some experience in that area) or a machine learning algorithm (totally noobs), but I can tell you with a lot of confidence that we are one of the best teams out there at building premium user interfaces. If you want a beautiful application, that is fast and smooth, we’re going to make it fast, smooth, beautiful and easy to scale.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
We are specializing in building user interfaces for web applications. We’re aware that this is not narrow enough for a niche so we are being very picky about what kind of projects we work on. After working on over 45 projects so far, we realized that we enjoy building complex and beautiful dashboard, website builders and interactive interfaces for touch screen devices (iPad, Surface Studio)
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
Because we’re niched and working mainly only on the front-end part of the service, we have to interact with the client’s team, usually the back-end people. As you can imagine, this brings a lot of variables in the equation of determining the time frame of developing a web app. When we get to the timeline part, we are trying to get an idea of how fast will the clients respond to us when we need something from him, how fast can he approve a design or an approach and how fast can we change the BE to either adjust to the FE needs or vice-versa.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
100% front-end since we’re specializing only in building the user interface.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
Personally, I put a lot of emphasis on how good my team knows and are experienced with a specific platform before we’re selecting it to be a candidate for a project. My CTO, on the other hand, thinks more about scalability and how easy will it be to maintain the application in the future (since he’s going to do that).
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in the development of your web apps?
We user React.js as a front-end framework for all our projects. Since React has a huge ecosystem that is growing daily, we still have to choose a set of technologies before starting a new project.
Do you offer website design templates or customized website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
We always do fully responsive designs and try to stay away from using any design templates. Every project is unique so the design has to be unique.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal etc)?
We prefer to use Wordpress because it has the biggest community, largest documentation base, and my team is very experiences with it.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
We do. I would say for every third project we build, we end up striking a deal with the client to maintain the technical part of the project.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a web application?
Oh well, that’s a good question. I mostly look at what internal resources are needed for the web application I’m trying to develop. A project that involves a senior developer is much more expensive than a project where I can have just a couple of junior developers building something simple.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
I prefer Pay per Milestone or a Fixed Cost broke down into multiple payments.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
To be completely honest, it all depends on how busy we all are. If we already have work in the pipeline for the next 6-8 months, the minimum budget is pretty high because we have to go and hire new people.
Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
We got a couple of leads from GoodFirms and had some good talks to them. Hopefully one of these leads can become a client in the foreseeable future.

Review Summary

Not only were their designs fantastic, but what I really loved is their ability to think about conversion rates as well. They helped us increase conversions by well over 20% and created a design that was visually superior to our previous ones.
