I hired Digital Skynet to develop Versa for me. This is my new project. It allows you to draw up an individual plan of nutrition and training based on the parameters of the human body.

The project is developed by two programmers, a project manager. I don’t fully understand what quality of the code means, but they do everything quickly and also test quickly, so in my version of the product everything works without errors.

We are constantly in touch with the project manager, Denis, and discuss the details of the project, since the service should have wide functionality and logic. Also, they do understand my needs because they already had experience developing a product in the personal healthcare field.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

Very professional and responsible team. They take into account all of my requests and requirements and we don’t have any misunderstandings. It’s easy to work with Digital Skynet. I feel incredibly lucky that I work with them. The price of $30 per hour is quite fine with me because I do not have huge budgets. I will be happy to recommend them. Even though they’re from a different time zone, we have a convenient call schedule.

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

We have not fully finished the work on the project, but it goes smoothly and I don’t think there will be any difficulties.

We had tight deadlines and a large number of tasks, but with the help of Digital Skynet we were able to quickly move forward with the project. It was a project for a network of medical facilities that needed a web application.
They developed the following features: automatic reporting, an automated module for financial support of the patients and suppliers, registration and support of the patient during the full range of treatment and online call support.
Digital Skynet was very responsive and initiated many improvements to the project. Not only did they make the code that works, but they were also invested in the success of the client’s business.
It was easy to work with them, they provided us with significant support. Digital Skynet worked remotely, but we were often in touch in chat or at scheduled meetings.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

I will recommend them as business process automation specialists

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

No, there aren’t.

Digital Skynet created a CRM system with a closed interface, which provides data analysis
on the status of the work of brokers on soft commodity market. They have also developed a notification bot and created mobile App for our customers.

Digital Skynet was easy to cooperate with. They worked closely with us to pinpoint our
needs. Despite the remote cooperation, our communication was effective since we held
regular online meetings. They are proactive, quickly adapt to any changes, and are also
focused on providing a high level of quality.

Executive Interview
Andrew Kurilo
Andrew Kurilo
CEO, Digital Skynet
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
I’m the CEO of Digital Skynet. It’s a custom software development company. We automate business processes and provide services in web, desktop, mobile and cross-platform development. We design and develop complex IT products for the B2B and B2C markets and make routine and long-term business processes easier and more accessible.

My team and I strive not just to develop software but to get an understanding of the business industry of our clients to make them more successful.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The idea to create Digital Skynet came about when I realized that I want to help businesses to achieve their goals. I knew that my expertise in software development is the way to accomplish that.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
While we do provide outsourcing services to our clients, our team is fully composed of 100% in-house professionals.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We have fine-tuned our software development process to provide our clients with extra value. Our work is based on transparency, compliance with the deadlines and budget as well as security of intellectual property. Regular reports and communication allow our clients to know exactly what they are paying for. By analyzing the business of our customers, we focus on eliminating the weak points to save them money in the long-term. To make that possible our professional team applies their experience and expertise to provide our clients with high-quality products that actually help their business. In addition, our prices are lower than in the country of our customers.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
We focus more on the tasks we perform, namely business process automation, rather than any industry in particular. Historically, we got to work with multiple clients from the field of energy and utilities as well as healthcare, beauty, finance, construction, and others. We also have completed a variety of eCommerce projects. These are the main areas we are experienced in, but we’re always ready to expand and help other industries too.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing software.
The key process for our time estimates is the analytical decomposition of the project down to separate components and individual tasks. We determine the complexity of each according to our experience with similar issues and the specifics of the requirements. We further decompose even the smaller tasks to get an accurate understanding of how many database entities, pages, navigation elements, and such are needed.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of software?
The front end usually takes longer than the backend since the clients often pay extra attention to the design. The cross-platform, cross-device, and adaptive UI/UX often require more time. The back end, on the other hand, is often universal. Also, the adjustments and suggestions from our clients often concern the design exclusively. At the same time, the functionality is fixed and rarely changes.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right framework for developing software?
We choose frameworks based on the combination of many factors. We pay attention to the framework’s performance, its open source code, as well as the experience our team has with it.
Which languages & frameworks do you prefer to use in development of software
The choice of languages and frameworks largely depends on the project itself. For example, for web development, we prefer C# .NET Core, TypeScript Angular with Sass and HTML5, or React. For database work, we often use T-SQL and Entity Framework Core. For mobile development, we prefer PWA, React Native, and Flutter when the project doesn't require the native's performance.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of software?
Our cost estimation process is tightly connected with the time estimate. Since we provide outsourcing and outstaffing based on the Time & Material model, we assess the individual experience of a developer and correlate that hourly rate with the time required for each project. Fixed Price is often easier to calculate. The requirements are already set and the same process of the hourly rate and time estimate correlation is even more accurate.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
Pretty much all of our projects were billed per milestone. The time these milestones differs from one project to another but they usually are either a month or two weeks each.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
The minimum basic budget requirement we see appropriate for Digital Skynet is $4000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?
The prices of our projects in 2019 ranged from $4000 at the lowest to $150000 at the highest.
