Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GoodFirms has done a great deal of work in increasing the online visibility of our business, improving credibility, and thus helped to bring more clients to the business, of which I am profoundly grateful.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
Document Translation & Interpretation Services in Kenya (DTIS-Kenya Technologies) is a women-led translation and interpretation company based in Nairobi. We offer quick, professional, and certified document translation services in Kenya and the entire Eastern Africa region.

I am the CEO and Founder of DTIS-Kenya Technologies.
What is the story behind starting this company?
While working as a tutor at the oldest language school in Kenya, I got the opportunity to experience different language services. At this school, I was exposed to teaching and translation. Once I left the language school, I felt a strong need in 2009 to start the company as a response to an increased need for quality translation and interpretation services in Kenya.

Initially, I was the only translator specializing in French-English translations, but over time, DTIS-Kenya Technologies has evolved in scope and capacity to encompass almost all major international and local languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, German, Nordic languages, Arabic, etc.

Consequently, we have had to outsource other professional language services providers, such as translators, interpreters, transcriptionists, and voice-over artists to be able to undertake different projects.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have a blend of both in-house teams and third parties according to the need, volume of work involved and requirements of our specific clients.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
We pride ourselves as a women-led institution that aims to create opportunities for women to work and be able to support their families. So, we are naturally focused on women's empowerment. Our workforce comprises 80% of women.

Moreover, we are among the most affordable company among our peers, without necessarily compromising on quality. Our rates are among the lowest, making the language services affordable to all kinds of clients.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We handle all kinds of industry needs since we have a large database of in-house and freelancers in different specialized fields be they legal, commercial or educational, government, scientific or technical, general and etc.

Over time, we have created long-term, repetitive clients, whose ratio is approximately 40%.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
The services that clients seek the most are translation, transcription, and interpretation.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
We are currently the most highly rated translation company in Kenya according to Google reviews. However, there are areas of improvement to become even better.
We have instituted steps to ensure our customer experience is awesome. This includes timely delivery and remaining affordable to all clients. The hiring of highly competent and experienced staff is also one of the steps we have put in place.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
We are available 24/7 to ensure our clients are able to reach us even at odd hours and to handle their queries promptly, either by phone or email. We have instituted a turnaround time for email inquiries to 1 hour at most and phone calls are attended to immediately.

We also have a delivery service for customers who’d like to receive their documents at their premises.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We have flexible payment structures to suit different clients. Corporate clients can pay per milestone, mostly after delivery and acceptance of the work.

One-time clients Pay per Feature and depending on the nature of the document.
We charge a Fixed Cost for short documents like certificates and diplomas.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We work with all kinds of budgets: from individuals to corporate clients and there’s no minimum budget involved.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
Our prices depend on the nature of the document, the volume, and the technicality involved. Basically, for short documents like certificates, diplomas, etc, our price is fixed at KES 2,000 per page (20 USD).

For long, text documents, our prices range from KES 6 – 10 (0.06 USD – 0.10 USD).
We basically handled projects going up to 12,000 USD per project.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
DTIS-Kenya Technologies will be the leading brand of choice in the provision of language services in the region.
