Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GoodFirms has been an excellent platform for DOT and clients. We are happy that people can read authentic reviews and decide whether to chose us or not.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
It has been 12 years of hard work that DOT is among registered Brands of the country. We cater to all the web development, technology, and software development needs of our esteemed clientele. We believe that there is no end to learning. Hence, we learn to adapt new technologies in our services to and help you become productive, streamline your processes, and rise to your true potential.

My primary role is to help businesses to achieve their goals. I help them to turn their problems into solutions effectively. I am also responsible for deliveries, operations, and customer dealing. Sometimes I write code too.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
It is a beautiful coincidence. Years back, I have put steps into freelancing to earn bread & butter for me, and I got a good response from the people out there, which led me to grow more and be able to provide flame to the stove of many people's kitchen. The latter part has become the actual reason now.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have an in-house team of experts who are hardworking, dedicated, enthusiasts, and committed professionals. We always prefer to do things that fall in the best capacity of ours. We are not much fond of outsourcing and third-party vendors as we've had bad experiences in the past.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
A client is always looking to have each thing under the same roof. We at DOT provide a complete solution to the client and take great care of all the concerns a client might have. That has been the secret to our success for years, which has developed the trust towards clients. Apart from that, we are very transparent and clear about the updates and progress. That eases the client to be aware of activities being carried on maintains trust.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We cater to a range of industries like E-commerce industries, Education, Fashion, Travel and Tourism, Sports, Manufacturing industries, Technology, etc. Yes, we have been able to retain our clients for a long time and have maintenance contracts going on. The ratio would increase to 70-80 percent.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
That is dependent upon the complexity of the applications like how many libraries are going to be used, how many integrations are to be done, what technology is to be used, what would be the complexity of the APIs. These all factors are involved so, what we do is. We have complete requirements gathered, and then based on that, we allocate resources and time as per resources. We create an action plan and supporting documents for the completion of a project. That gives us a clear picture of the time and effort required to develop.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
That again is dependent on the complexity of the project. However, we can divide it into the percentage of the effort involved required for front-end and back-end. If there are not much integrations and project is not much complex, it would take 50 % each. Sometimes most projects are mostly relevant to back-end and front-end, respectively, there the percentage would be 70-80% accordingly.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
That is, again, totally dependent on the business requirements of the client. Android and IOS are different, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. If the business requirements have targeted audience dependent on device and country location, then the platform will be decided accordingly. If the wide range is to targeted, then both the platforms are to be reached.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
That is dependent on the business target market. We do suggest android as it comes with fast resolution of issues and takes less time to approve any app. Another factor if the target market is the US, we'll suggest IOS.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Again that is dependent on the client. If a client is good to go with extended time limits and can pay a good amount, we'll recommend the native apps (Android, IOS). If fast resolutions are to be made and a cost-effective solution is required, we'll suggest a Hybrid application.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The choice of technology, complexity, the human effort involved is the major factors involved in deciding the cost of the application. The complexity of design does affect the cost as well. If the apps are simple in design and less complex, they'll need less human effort, and so will be the cost.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
That is dependent on the nature of the project, product. We follow different payment structures; it could be fixed cost, monthly, hourly, according to phases and milestones.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We do not have any hard and fast rules or any strict policy in that context. We do take projects when we can deliver in time, and about the minimum budget, we frequently do quick fixes or maintenance tasks even in 150$. We have made maintenance contracts, and we charge 250$ monthly for them.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?
The price for the previous has been from 250$ to 153,000$.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We usually do not suggest any business model to clients as each person who comes up with having a mobile application is pretty much sure about what he is looking for.
If we do see them off target, we do point them in the right direction, and rest is up to them. We do suggest having a referral system some times.
•    Sometimes in-built features do help in generating revenue.
•    Advertisements are of help as well.
•    The Freemium model does help. Have some features for free and some features as paid.
•    The subscription model could be of help, as well.

Exchange Collective

About Exchange Collective: It is a multivendor E-commerce platform where all the partner vendors will list their available products. It provides customers/users such a platform where they can have everything and can even have an idea about the price ranges and variation according to products available under different brands. Ground zero for this product can be defined as follow.

Retailers: With Exchange Collective, retailers had the ability to offer their customers exactly what they wanted, even if they did not stock the particular items which customers are looking for. This allows retailers to capture sales even when inventory is missing from their shelves. With Exchange Collective, retailers can give customers an “endless aisle” experience and the ability to support their business. This will create loyalty and trust with customers.

Brands: Brands will have a tool to get ALL their products in front of customers in ANY retail channel. This means customers will find all of the products anywhere they want them to. No more just hoping that retailers are carrying what customers are searching for, now brands can say, “Check your local retailer. They have everything!” Exchange Collective helps strengthen brand presence and build loyalty with customers. Customers: Customers are the most important part of any business. This is actually what we believe in and Exchange Collective is committed to give business the ability to give their customers the experience they deserve and they are looking for.

Implementation: The proposed solution was to have such a platform where all brands, retailers existed at same page giving customers a wide range of selection and liberty of choice. Technicalities: Keeping all the requirements and data traffic in mind we have to go with Node.js and Angular 6 for development of web and Progressive web app was developed in Ionic 4 using sails.js. For a web and application like this, the best option was going with MySQL. Later on it was revamped as client had some other plans. Traditional ecommerce behavior was developer in Laravel while admin/vendor panel was developed in Laravel as well. For the super admin we have to leave it as it was developed in Node.js. Brief Details: As explained above it’s a multi-vendor E-commerce platform where vendors can register their store and list products under a single store. All the data and products from each and every store will be displayed on main site which will be accessible to all the users.

We have been developing a middleware which was supposed to establish connectivity/synchronization between Magneto, Shopify, WordPress and Exchange Collective. Whether a vendor has a store on Magneto, Shopify or WordPress, Exchange collective data(products) was supposed to be populated on the store of the person regardless of the platform.

Admin Panel: Admin panel was developed to monitor all the data from different stores and to keep an eye on the stores. Admin panel provided ease to super admin to search any product of his choice and for that we have developed a Query builder where super admin was given authority to comprise filters to search products of his own choice. Super admin was given ease to make queries for searching data(products) put in database.

Apart from that super admin was provided with all the listings of vendors and their specific stores where as each vendor was provided with their store details and each vendor has been admin to his store and could manage all the data for his store.

Out of the box feature was page builder that was developed to ease out vendor for adding products in a more comfortable way. Vendor was only supposed to drag and drop images and put description against that specific image the in description area. On hitting submission product was there to be published. In simple words we can say predefined modules were been set up.
