Executive Interview
Mr. Mohammed Kashif
Mr. Mohammed Kashif
Director, Happenize
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
I’m the Director and Co-Founder of this company. I oversee the direction in which the company is going for operations and services.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Having worked in the digital space, we felt the need to bring our expertise to Dubai especially with the entire transition from ATL advertising towards a more tightly kitted audience.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have our team in-house, although we sometimes partner with specialized firms depending on project requirements.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We invest time in understanding our clients and then use our proven digital framework to meet and exceed client targets.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
We work for a wide range of industries including automobile, real estate, education, banking and so on. And they are repetitive in the sense that once a client comes in for a logo or website, they will be with us for a digital marketing or mobile app or annual website maintenance retainer.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
The timeframe merely depends on the essential functions and interactions in the web app, along with the project size.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
The front end takes a lesser effort in comparison to developing the backend. In terms of time, the backend takes 0.75% of the time taken to develop the front end is usual cases.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
The usage, traffic versus the number of products/data on it and the scalability.
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in the development of your web apps?
Angular, Node JS, Ruby on Rails, Laravel, it depends on the requirement.
Do you offer website design templates or customized website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
All web designs must be mobile responsive, and that goes without a saying. We prefer custom designs but do offer template-based designs.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.)?
Wordpress is convenient for the clients, and it's easier explaining how they can use it to maintain their website. We’re comfortable with all the platforms since we have the relevant technical expertise.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
Yes, we do provide website maintenance services.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a web application?
One of the main requirements is understanding the client's needs and the future of the app.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
It is fixed Project costs divided into milestones.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We’ve happened to take a few projects like that to accommodate a customer’s needs. Sometimes it’s not about the costs involved and rather about how long the customer can stay with us for their other requirements. We wouldn’t want to disclose our minimum budget; it was as good as free.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in2018?
Prices for web sites/web apps ranged from 15000 AED to 200000AED.
