Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
We are a high-tech web and software development company with almost 20 years of experience. The company was established in 2001 as an independent division engaged in the design and development of the software in the Internet advertising field. Its part of a large technology company engaged in software and hardware development for the aerospace field. We worked with clients from Russian, North America, and Europe. Among our clients are Traffic Force, DotHop, Advertise.com, AdTrustMedia, PixFuture, Adviator, MTS, Beeline, Tele 2 and many others.  
I’m the CEO of this company.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
As I said, initially we started as a division of an aerospace tech company, but almost immediately we realized that we could undertake our own journey as we felt the industry has huge potential and the time showed we were right.
In the center of our business are clients and their needs. We always do our best to find possible solutions for any client’s inquiry and fortunately we have succeeded in it very often.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have an in-house team of highly experienced system architects, developers (back and front end), QA engineers, DevOps, web designers, and managers. That’s why we can offer our client a full cycle of the development process.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Because of wide experience and range of skillset, we have different development services to offer to:

Mostly they are Advertising & Marketing, E-Commerce, Financial, Business Services, and IT industries. But we can work with companies from almost any industry because of the experience of work in so many different subject areas.
We have lots of customers who work with us for years. We successfully finished with them many, many different projects.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing software.
We always try to determine the customer’s requirements in detail and only after that we provide project specifications with accurate time frames. It is very important to be on the same page about the required features/functionality of the product, selected development technologies/frameworks/approaches from very beginning to provide the result the client expects and make him happy with it.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of software?
It really depends on the project itself. If it is a complex solution with lots of modules, integrations and large infrastructure to build and maintain, you need quite a lot of energy when working on it.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right framework for developing software?
Features and functionality + project budget are key parameters. You can use different paths to reach the same result.
Which languages & frameworks do you prefer to use in development of software?
As I mentioned earlier, we have a very experienced team with a wide skillset and because of it, we are not limited by some particular languages. We work with PHP and its several frameworks, Go, JavaScript (Angular, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Vue.js, Ember.js, etc.), Qt, Java, C/C++, C# and so on. It can be a combination of different languages for separate parts of the same project. So, as you can see, we are quite flexible here.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of software?
Again, functionality and set of needed features.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)?
It depends on many factors like project duration, timing, complexity, etc. In our practice, we worked with each of the mentioned payment structures.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
The minimal budget for the project we had this year was about $5000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
Our hourly rate is $35-$40 on average but of course, we are ready to discuss individual rates for long-term projects.

PROBLEM

Adviator approached us to help them build their own platform for displaying ads in mobile apps. For six months, the company had planned to create a new advertising network for mobile application developers and advertisers. Their long-term plans assumed a constant expansion, both in size and functionality of the platform during operation. And they needed a ready, scalable solution that would work with their monitoring system and an existing help desk system.

SOLUTION

We had to do a lot of custom programming in order to create a platform for Adviator. As a basic platform, we started with OrbitSoft Mobile and for the company's unique requirements added other modules, such as

  • Cassandra, to store statistics on user actions,
  • OpsView, for monitoring system performance, and
  • FreshDesk, for the user support system.

The OrbitSoft system was installed on a production server 4, with server 3 staging. Particular attention was given to fault tolerances, backup and recovery in case of any failures.

The system had an SDK for Windows, so we implemented SDKs for Android and iOS. But the rapid development of the mobile-application market required constant development and refinement of those SDKs. We also added new ad formats (Full Screen, Video and Native Ads), an additional statistical reporting system, and new anti-fraud protections to help Adviator keep pace with the market.

RESULTS

  • The number of developers and ad impressions increased every day.
  • The system served more than 75 million impressions per month.
  • More than a hundred advertisers logged in.

And over the next three years, the number of active installed applications exceeded 15 million—with more than 500 million ad impressions per month.

PROBLEM

AdvMedia approached us in light of our ongoing relationship, as OrbitSoft has already implemented several successful projects for AdvMedia mobile Internet advertising market. AdvMedia planned to create a user account with the payment service system and content in mobile applications for mobile developers and operators.

SOLUTION

It was decided to develop a system from scratch. Together with the customer, we figured out the requirements and technical specifications for the system. On the basis of the required specifications, we created descriptions of all the features and functions of the system. In the process of designing the system, we produced a feature-rich interface prototype for all types of users.

During the design process, users of this system were the developers, support staff and administrators of the system.

Upon the agreement and approval of specifications and prototypes, we started immediate implementation. During the implementation process, we integrated the new system with the billing system of the operator.

On completion of development, we launched a pilot project in the mobile operator and together with the operator and developer of mobile applications, we have begun full-scale testing and pilot implementation. During the course of the pilot, we identified and eliminated all shortcomings, polished interaction between all participants in the system, and tweaked performance bottlenecks.

RESULT

Currently, the system has moved into a commercial pilot stage with a limited number of mobile application developers and is preparing for full-scale commercial launch. The company plans to launch AdvMedia system for all mobile operators in Russia.

PROBLEM

When Dothop approached us at OrbitSoft, they already had an ad serving system they were using. However, the way it was developed for their business system made it virtually impossible to upgrade and scale to meet Dothop's projected traffic growth.

Dothop was looking for our developers to solve this difficult scaling problem and introduce a system that would meet the new demands and Dothop's growing requirements.

SOLUTION

Upgrading Dothop's legacy system would have been prohibitively complicated and costly. Instead we used our OrbitSoft Ad Server solution. All the necessary features of the old system were transferred to the new OrbitSoft system, including customer balances, campaigns, advertisements and keywords. Dothop kept all their information, and we imported it into the new system in two months without any loss.

We also developed a fail-safe system that could switch from failover server to a standby server, ensuring the highest data security for Dothop's ad server system. Our team of experienced designers made changes in Dothop's website, refreshing the look and incorporating the latest UX and UI design trends. And finally, we set up Dothop's servers to ensure the most efficient use of the new OrbitSoft Ad Server system.

RESULTS

After OrbitSoft Ad Server was implemented, Dothop achieved the following results:

  • The number of active advertisers increased to 10,000
  • The number of keywords in the system reached 23,000+
  • A new minimum level of bid increased to $0.10

In addition to the quantitative results, Dothop got a powerful new advertising service system that combines the scalability and security of data they needed, allowing the company to establish a constant-growth capacity for many years to come.

Our company is one of the most successful Casual-Dating Communities in Europe. Our products offer huge traffic and unique targeting possibilities for Advertisers, all whilst giving a wide range of CPL/RevShare offers for Affiliates.
Our previous ad serving solution couldn’t allow us to scale or customize under our requirements and it affected our business.
We looked for the dev team which had experience in both high load systems and in digital advertising. OrbitSoft became our perfect match.
There were 2 main goals: save all the current data we have and get scalable and customizable platform which let our business to keep growing.
We considered several vendors and stopped on OrbitSoft as they provided us with the good mix of price and platform capabilities.
They dedicated us an account manager whose has a team behind him. From time to time we have conference calls to know more about and discuss further customizations of the platform.
We couldn’t upgrade our old system as it was too complicated and this would cost us a lot of money. So instead of working on upgrading our current system, OrbitSoft offered to create a new one based on their Ad Server solution.
Also, OrbitSoft made additional customizations for the system which enabled us to have exactly that functionality that we wanted to have in our new platform. Performance of the system improved as well and it allowed us to grow in the traffic volumes.
And finally, they set up our server infrastructure to provide its fault-tolerant and file-safe work.
Since we started to use a new platform, our volumes increased by almost twice which allowed us to generate more revenue and we still see the further growth potential with this platform.

The goals were: Create a mobile ads platform, Integrate platform with existing monitoring system and helpdesk system Scalable solution. OrbitSoft have the task to develop mobile ads platform from scratch with all necessary features: stats, account management, campaign management, reporting system etc. At the same time this platform should have work with our existing systems: monitoring and helpdesk.
For this project, OrbitSoft created a team with 1 project manager, 3 developers, 1 QA engineer, and 1 system administrator.

During this development, OrbitSoft provided with good project management. Communication was on a high level. We use Teamwork solution was task management which allowed us to know and track everything about each task.
