Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
Sibers provides IT outsourcing solutions tailored to the needs of its clients, with a particular focus on software, web, and mobile development. Bringing security and integrity to the development process, we make the integration of remote teams completely painless by blending our own resources into existing processes.

I joined Sibers as a Junior Java Developer way back when Sibers employed only 12 people. I am now the overseer of every process and every project in our pipeline. My role is to ensure that our Project Managers are communicative, flexible, and technically apt, our technical team leaders are inventive, and all the company works smoothly.
What is the story behind starting this company?
In 1998 a group of graduates established Sibers in Akademgorodok — “town of academics”, the educational and scientific centre of Siberia. Since recently it has become a technological and IT center either. At the very beginning, the company consisted of 5 programmers and developed projects only for one American company.  Three years after, the company became independent, started searching for clients, and began immediately growing. The team was passionate to help people bring to life their ideas and projects. And since that time the priorities have not changed.  Every year has brought us new achievements and by now we’ve delivered over 1,700 outsourcing projects, which is the main proof of our IT expertise.

By 2007 the company employed 100 team members and in 2008 finally registered the trademark Sibers. In 2010 Sibers was included in Global Outsourcing TOP 100 by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals. We were in the top 10 companies in Australia and New Zealand. By 2013 we’d won the 1000th project on Elance. Since then every year has brought us new achievements and by now we’ve delivered over 1,700 outsourcing projects, which is the main proof of our IT expertise.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Sibers employs its own development teams overall consisting of 150+ professionals.  We don’t believe in “renting” coders; rather, our full-time teams come packaged with years of technological and managerial expertise in a variety of different industries.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
Our approach combines innovation with timely delivery, intertwining our love for coding with the confidence to meet and exceed the client’s expectations and project goals. We also believe that by making manager-client communication more personal we achieve mutual understanding and chemistry, which undoubtedly lead to a successful collaboration.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
Thanks to the years of experience, the range of industries we usually work with are rather wide. They are Business and professional services, Consumer business and retail (eCommerce), Digital printing, Education (eLearning), Financial Services, Health care, Manufacture, Marketing, and advertising, Media and entertainment, tourism, hospitality, and leisure.

We believe that industry-specific experience is of great importance while working with the particular project, as it affects its cost-efficiency and quality time.
Sibers’ client base is comprised of a staggering 60% repeat customers, with about 35% of our new business being the direct result of recommendations from current clients. Moreover, several of our long-time customers are now partners or representatives.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
Two main areas here are web and mobile development; we have great experience in both. In fact, we are specialized in custom development and can implement the most complex ideas of our clients. Almost everybody can build a simple online store; but when it comes to the complex marketplace or a mobile video editor with sophisticated filters and effects, then we get to the area with only a few players.
If we are talking about tech stack, it’s very wide: PHP, C#, JavaScript, Swift, Kotlin, Java, Python — you name it.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
A vast majority of our clients are highly satisfied and many of them are happy to share positive feedback on freelance platforms.

We constantly keep track of how our customers feel about our cooperation starting from day one of our partnership. Sibers Customer Care Department gathers their feedback and makes sure that the whole team understands what concerns them. We are always open to suggestions and aim at creating a comfortable environment for cooperation. It would be fair to say that our clients can count on a tailor-made approach to addressing their needs.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
We attend to the clients’ needs from the moment of the first contact. The first person the client speaks with is one of our Outsourcing Consultants, which helps choose the most effective platform, explains the development process, and confirms budget and timeframe. After that the client talks with one of our Business Analysts, who will assist with all relevant documentation. After starting the project, the client is introduced to their own Customer Care Manager and Project Manager. The Project Manager provides daily progress reports, sets tasks for the developers, and discusses all relevant issues with the client, including any changes they’d like to make along the way. The Customer Care Manager’s job is to protect the interests of the client during the entire project development stage. To make our collaboration more personal, the Customer Care Manager becomes a daily contact, an arrangement which offers many advantages.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We prefer using the Agile approach with weekly sprints. Of course, we always estimate our new projects as accurately as possible; however, our experience shows that 90% of projects go much further than they were initially planned. This is why we define the initial price range, but inform the client that the price may vary depending on the client’s decisions during the development process.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Our minimum project size is 40 hours; it’s hard to manage smaller projects. Besides, 40 hours is usually enough to demonstrate our skills and expertise (especially if we are talking about ongoing projects we might join in the middle); after that point, the client can make the final decision whether our skills, communication culture, and business processes match his initial expectations.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
As I said, our minimum project size is 40 hours; we had a couple of those in 2020. So, the minimum price was $1,200 (our rate for web development is $30/hour). It’s hard to define the maximum price though; we have a number of projects we work on for over 5-7 years (or even a decade). If we consider these projects as well, the maximum price is over $1.5 Million.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
The current pandemic situation has shown us that the world can drastically change at any moment. We cannot predict that happening, and, therefore, we cannot fully rely on plans and arrangements, but should be ready for any unforeseen circumstances. To be flexible and quickly adapt, do our job and help people bring their ideas to life are the things we hope we’ll keep on doing in the next 10 years.

Sibers has created a performance tracking application for the sales department at the solar company Vivint Solar. At the beginning of our work, clients used several disparate applications for this purpose.

We combined several applications to track the work activity of managers and created the admin panel where the head of the team can view reports on the working hours of each of the managers.

The application functionality helps track sales pitch volume, track sales pitches through geolocation, plan sales territory daily and track morning habits through a habit tracker.

The platform serves for conducting online meetings. At its core there is a learning “room” that consists of a whiteboard and a web call possibility.

We provide a comfortable learning process by redesigning and making an intuitive layout with an adjusted whiteboard and responsive instruments enhancing such basic operations as undo, redo, zooming, selecting, moving objects, and others.

The platform also allows group calls with the possibility to share and record screen, write text and draw on the whiteboard during the call. Web calls and chats are based on WebRTC technologies via the OpenTok integration. It provides high-quality transmission of text, voice, video, and data without installing additional plug-ins or extensions in the browser.

Business Services

Matisseo is a huge rich-featured web-to-print system and an illustrative example of how software solutions may address business challenges supporting its growth and expansion.

The client turned to us with already existing website and desktop editing software, which being used together allowed to create, order and purchase photobooks. At the first stage Sibers has to develop albums sharing function: as a result users got opportunity to preview created books on the site and share them inside the system and via e-mail. Then several marketing functions were implemented: new options for ordering albums (e.g. soft cover/rigid cover), the system for calculating these new options, sponsoring and fidelity program, consisting of internal money, prepaid cards and tickets.

On the third stage we’ve developed the core and the most complicated frontend component of the system — an online tool for creating and editing photobooks. At the moment it was built, Matisseo became available not only for Windows users, but also for those who use Mac. It has become an important milestone for business, since the majority of Matisseo’s potential customers are people of creative professions, including photographers, designers and etc., who frequently prefer Macs.

Development of the inner side of the project, it’s backend system, allowed to reduce handwork time for business operators 4 times. The system consists of: albums processing, creating PDF, PDF imposition on the list for effective paper use, generating information on the orders, passing it to printing machines and order status tracking.

Sibers team tries to do their best continuing collaboration with Matisseo company, uninterruptedly improving and supporting this sophisticated web-to-print system.
