Till date, we have developed a large number of web/mobile apps and enterprises solutions for top-notch companies across the globe. Some of the fantastic companies we have worked with include Apollo Education Group, AudioSocket, One2three, AFB Ghana, Phillip Jeffries, Listfixx, ContentTools, etc. We work with selected, innovative clients and become their extended development partner.
I am Baber Javed, one of the founders and have been helping Square63 define its online identity and helping acquire not only customers but friends and partners that are helping make us a success. We help create highly profitable businesses by delivering technology eco-systems & dedicated teams that provide flexibility to the companies and spurs their growth.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Before Square63, I had been working with various software development companies and figured out the need to inculcate a strong customer-driven culture in our teams. Companies working with external resources and third-party vendors report a lot of issues. I felt I could build a solid framework that allows companies to use our remote & distributed talent in an effective way eliminating issues with outsourcing and provide an experience on par with hiring in-house resources. I started Square63 to implement this ideology and have been quite successful in making it a reality.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We develop and maintain web/mobile applications for startups, enterprises, and specialize in top-tier development using Ruby on Rails, iOS, Android, Angular, ReactJS & React Native. We have a fully functional in-house team of experienced developers, designers, project managers, QA specialists that you can either incorporate in your team on a full-time basis or engage in a fixed-scope project. From idea conception to development and successful deployment, we do everything under one roof.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Our primary focus is client satisfaction, which we achieve through excellent communication skills, reliable technology, project management, and domain expertise, the culture of trust and transparency. It allows us to build and maintain a long term relationship with clients. We establish partnerships with our clients on all organization levels and across different departments (engineering, finance, etc.). We provide a personalized experience and treat customer's projects as our projects. We not only engineer their products but also help them grow and provide support even after their product is rolled out in the market.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We are not industry-specific and can work with any client who requires web & mobile development work but we have a varied experience with Fintech, Retail, E-commerce, Real Estate, Education, Healthcare & Hospitality.
We take pride as around 80% of our existing clients come back to us for their technical needs and also refer us in their circle.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The time frame for any app development depends on the following:
- Scope of work
- The complexity of Features/functionality of the app
- Tech stack required
- Third-party integrations
- Design requirements
- Clients deadline / App launch
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
This depends on the scope of the project. On average, a mobile app takes around 2-4 months for a complete development and deployment perspective.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
We start by analyzing the requirements like responsiveness, load capacity, user base, features/FRS, client’s preferred tech stack for back-end & front-end (if specified), and UI/UX design.
Which platform do you suggest your clients begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
I would suggest my clients build their iOS version of the app first since the user base for iOS is vast, and it will increase the usability of your app.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We always recommend our clients to go with Native application development as it allows the best combination of performance and user experience. However, we have recently developed some applications with Flutter & React Native that are also proving to be pretty competitive.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
We consider the following factors to access the cost of a mobile app:
- UI/UX design of an app
- The flow of an app
- Features/complexity of the app
- Back-end, APIs, and its integrations
- Server requirements (if required)
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We usually invoice monthly with net-30 terms. If the project is fixed-fee, criteria for acceptance are called out in the contract, as well as details regarding software maintenance periods, what is covered under warranty and for how long the warranty lasts.
We usually charge hourly fees for these after-project services. However, for ongoing support, it sometimes makes more sense to charge a fixed, monthly fee.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Yes. For fixed-cost projects, our minimum requirements start from $5,000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
The price range of our projects for 2018 would range between $10,000 to $500,000.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients, enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We almost always recommend going with a monthly subscription model as it is the most effective and long term sustainable model. It helps you to help your customer with cutting costs and enhancing their productivity.
