Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Studio Mosaic is an award-winning app marketing and growth agency that has consistently been ranked amongst the Top App Marketing Agencies in the world. Our eclectic team of Appstore experts use a mix of organic and paid growth hacking techniques to help mobile app businesses grow their active users and monthly earnings. We are based in New Delhi, India and have been scaling mobile apps for over 5 years.
I am the Founder and CEO of Studio Mosaic and oversee the business development and marketing efforts within the company. I work on the strategic vision of Studio Mosaic and regularly consult app entrepreneurs, startups and large enterprises on their app store strategies.

What was the idea behind starting this organization?
I originally started Studio Mosaic as an app publishing studio to build and market our own mobile apps. We tried a lot of things in the process of launching our first mobile app and learnt the ropes of promoting it organically as well as inorganically. So while we were working on our newer apps where the turn-around-time was high, we decided to use our newly acquired knowledge and experience to help other mobile app owners succeed in the competitive Appstore landscape on the side. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, we work as the virtual CMO’s or an outsourced growth team for a lot of apps. As their growth team, we monitors all aspects of their business and help them grow in their desired manner, without charging an arm and a leg for it!
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
App marketing is still a very niche industry and the pool of people experienced with app marketing is limited. We have therefore built in-house expertise by hiring people with a passion for mobile apps and marketing and train them on-the-job.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
By developing a team in-house, we have been able to develop an in house library of some of the best (and not-so-good) practices for growing apps that the team collectively draws from as well as builds upon, constantly. The client therefore, always benefits from this learning.
An in-house model also gives us flexibility & agility so we are much better equipped to handle uncertainties and contingencies as compared to a someone which has an outsourced model.
Resources too are carefully selected and allocated to projects based on their strengths and the requirements of the client. And they are always available over Skype, email etc. to discuss about the app, the progress, plans etc.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We cater to businesses that have a consumer-centric mobile app (B2C app) in English speaking countries. These apps can be from any category on the Appstore or Play Store. A high majority of our clients work with us on an ongoing basis that usually lasts about 4-6 months. Even though we &most of them would like to continue working with us, they are sometimes unable to do so because of budgetary constraints, product/development issues or other such external factors. In some cases, our clients have even resumed working with us after a gap 6-12 months, after they have fixed these issues. We have clients to have worked with us on multiple apps. We also have a high referral rate as a lot of our clients refer us to their friends/family. Over 90% of our clients have worked with us for a minimum of 3 months and about 20% of them have been with us for over 12 months.
What do you find to be some of the most key factors for running a successful agency in the field of Mobile App Marketing?
I believe it’s the people and the team that is the no.1 factor for running a successful mobile app agency. The team needs to have a strong blend of analytical thinking and creative execution. One needs to be comfortable with numbers to be able to consume large volumes of data and draw actionable insights from it. Based on the insights, one then has to offer a creative solution in the form of messaging/communication and the overall delivery to ensure that we achieve the desired objective. Finding such people who possess both these qualities is the key to success.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a project?
Our costs are largely influenced by the scale and magnitude of the work we have to deliver and the value we create for our clients in the long-run. Factors like number of app platforms to be promoted, monthly advertising spends, selection of services delivered, goal to be achieved, period of engagement etc. determine our fee.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients?
We charge a fixed price for certain one-time activities like design, video-making etc. The rest of the activities come under a monthly retainer fee.
Name a couple of activities that you think provide the best ROI in terms of benefit/impact when it comes to different areas of Mobile App Marketing.
I feel Appstore optimisation is one of the most high impact activity we offer. It is the most reasonably priced and builds a strong foundation for long-term, ongoing performance by delivering organic downloads.
