Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
My name’s Daria Fedko, and I am the CEO & Founder of WeAR Studio, a full-cycle creative agency that designs and develops AR/VR experiences to solve business needs across different industries. WeAR Studio ranks among the top 10 AR/VR developers for businesses worldwide and has a wide range of XR services: from ideation and consulting to rapid prototyping and full development.
What is the story behind starting this company?
Before WeAR Studio, I worked in several companies. While working in game development, I found out about AR/VR, and I instantly fell in love with these technologies and realized that this is what I enjoy; it’s my passion and the sphere I want to connect my life with.
What are your company’s business model – in-house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have an in-house production team consisting of Unity and backend developers, project managers, a design team, a sales and marketing department, a QA engineer, an account manager, and a 3D generalist. Besides, we have Content Manager, HR, and Accountant departments.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
WeAR Studio is fully focused on AR/VR technologies. We have clear working principles - we conduct a thorough analysis of the client’s business and study the niche, its problems, and its audience to successfully integrate an AR/VR solution into the existing business ecosystem. This way, it will drive growth to the business and have high ROI metrics.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We have clients from different industries such as retail and eComm, tech startups, marketing agencies, manufacturing, maritime, automotive, education and staff training, tourism, entertainment, and arts. There are big brands like Pepsi, Danone, Skoda, UNICEF, and many more among our customers.

We provide first-class XR development services and have a seasoned team of experts, so it’s not a surprise that our clients don’t stop with just one project and continue to cooperate with us when they get a new idea to implement.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
WeAR Studio is a full-cycle creative agency, which means we offer a wide range of services - starting from consulting (we help figure out what AR/VR technologies are, explain the difference, help choose the right tech stack or equipment that fit the project best), the ideation (we help customers to come up with a meaningful AR/VR idea that will benefit their business) to rapid prototyping (we conduct R&D, write tech documentation, develop a prototype of the client’s idea), and, of course, full development (we take care of every stage of development and support the project even when it ends).
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
We always do our best to meet our client’s expectations fully. That’s why our cooperation with each client can be divided into several stages:
  • Discussion of the client’s wants and needs.
  • Agree on the type of XR experience and its basic functionality.
  • Creating an MVP.
  • Conducting QA.
  • Working on the tech documentation.
  • Collecting and giving feedback.
We believe that staying silent and ignoring the problem is far worse than any problem itself. Therefore, we always give very detailed feedback to our clients. We understand that to stay calm, they need to know what’s happening with their project during any stage of development.

We also constantly collect feedback from our clients by conducting surveys to understand our growth zones, support our projects even when they are finished, and give recommendations on how to improve the existing app to bring maximum benefit to the business.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
Our entire business model is based on solving clients’ requests and problems with the help of AR/VR technologies. We understand that today technologies are evolving very quickly, and thus standards and guidelines are changing too.

Besides, many standards simply do not exist yet. Therefore, we are very flexible in terms of cooperation - we provide one month of technical support after the project is released and always stay in touch with our clients even a year later. Besides, we have well-established account and project testing processes at all stages of development.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We have different approaches to pricing - everything depends on the project and the circumstances on the client's side.

For example, we often work with startups in their early stage that have a fixed budget. For them, we create such a technical solution that will successfully meet their business needs at this stage and at the same time is within their budget.

When we work with more mature startups, it all depends on the task - we may use Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone payment options. However, our clients often prefer a Fixed Cost one for the functionality agreed in advance.

We understand that the budget approval process can be challenging, especially in corporations. That's why we often suggest conducting a Project Workup. It is the preparatory stage of the project when we carry out research on technologies, write the exact technical requirement, evaluate everything (up to the smallest detail), and then develop an MVP. With such documentation, it is much easier and faster for our clients to defend the project in front of the board and the team and receive funding for the full development.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We do not have any minimum requirements. For us, it is crucial that the project will benefit our client's business in the short run.

For example, an AR  Instagram filter that costs about $2-3k and is correctly integrated into a marketing strategy will boost sales and show an ROI of 1000%. A WebAR application with a price of $10-15k that is successfully integrated into the digital business ecosystem will double the conversion rate on the site, reduce the time for making a purchase decision, and decrease the number of returns. An AR/VR platform for personnel training, the cost of which can start from $60k and higher, can minimize the risk of the damage of the expensive equipment in production, which respectively reduce the need to repair or replace it. It will also reduce the number of injuries and death accidents at work and accelerate onboarding and adaptation processes.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
The minimum price was $3,500 for tech research and prototype development, whereas the maximum was for AR project development that cost $200k + budget.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
I strongly believe that everything in life, and especially in business, is about relationships between people. That’s why, first of all, I see my company as a solid and expert team with partners and friends-representatives around the world, and clients from various industries - startups, brands, corporations, enterprises, agencies, the public sector, and many others.

We are pumping the XR industry with new cool cases, launching educational programs, entering industrial niches, where it is quite complex to integrate innovations, but which need them, for sure. We set new standards in XR development and take awards at international competitions. And our projects and products benefit people, society, and business.
