App analytics is the equivalent of marketing analytics, but tailored to mobile apps instead of marketing channels. These analytics allow app developers and owners to measure critical considerations, including downloads, user engagement, monetization and many others. Without app analytics, it is difficult to determine if you’re actually achieving any form of success with your app.
Why Does App Analytics Matter?
The term “analytics” has become something of a catchall for monitoring success and progress of something. When it comes to app analytics, measurement is crucial. Without measuring your progress, it can be impossible to determine if you’re actually turning a profit or seeing success. Of course, the right metrics need to be measured here. How to Use Information Gleaned from App Analytics
So, what do you do with the information you obtain from app analytics in the first place? It should be used to improve the app in whatever way you can. For instance, seeing a significant number of app crashes on Android devices tells you that there’s a potential problem there. Perhaps it’s an incompatibility between the app and the latest flavor of Android OS. Perhaps it’s something else. Either way, knowing that crashes are happening allows you to drill down into the problem and fix it, thereby giving your users a better experience.
Another example would be user engagement. By measuring and tracking user engagement, you can determine many things about your app and possibly make changes. For instance, is there more engagement with a particular age group or other demographic? Is there a particular area of the app that sees more frequent use? Is there a disconnect somewhere that is leading to users abandoning your app? All of this information can help you build a better, more engaging app.
No matter what type of app you have, and no matter what operating system it runs on, app analytics is a crucial consideration if you want to achieve success.
