Established in 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco, LeewayHertz was one of the first companies to launch a commercial application for iPhone on the App Store. Now, We are among top blockchain development companies. The LeewayHertz’s team of experienced designers and developers has designed and built over 100 digital platforms on IoT, Mobile, Cloud, and Blockchain. We have worked with many big brands like Siemens, Hershey’s, O’Reilly Auto Parts, ESPN, and more.
As a CTO of the company, my role is to ensure that the company’s strategies for managing the technology serve the customer’s needs. My responsibility in the company is to make decisions for choosing the right technology, development tools, deciding the dev roadmap, deciding on code standards, and exploring new tools and techniques.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
LeewayHertz was established in 2007 by our CEO, Akash Takyar with the aim of “You Dream it: We Built it.” to provide innovative digital solutions to startups and enterprises. It is the era of the digital revolution, and the movement of businesses from manual to automation has led to the establishment of LeewayHertz.
LeewayHertz has built over 100 digital platforms which are now being used by millions of users worldwide. The idea behind setting up the organization was to help businesses grow with digital solutions and bring revolution to the digital era.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have our in-house team of experienced and certified designers, full-stack developers, and testers who understand the technology's standards and have in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies. From concept to delivery, the team covers all stages of product development lifecycle within the decided timelines.
How is your business model beneficial from a value-added perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We are different as we've better capability, domain knowledge, industry-grade communication, and product management tools to stay connected with the clients. We work across different time zones, including EST, PST, CST, ACT, CHAST, and EDT.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
LeewayHertz is a leading blockchain development company that has deployed over 80 smart contracts, built 25 blockchain projects, and 100+ digital solutions. Though blockchain is a new technology to the market, we have successfully been able to bridge the technology gap with our team of passionate and experienced blockchain experts.
Yes, we have repetitive customers who have approached us for the maintenance/upgrade services and migration of the existing application to the blockchain app. We strengthen our relations with clients, and therefore, are able to maintain an impressive repetitive ratio of 85%.

There is no such formula to determine the time frame to develop a digital solution; it depends on the client’s requirements, technology, and the criticality of a project. We always recommend our clients to send the project requirements after signing a non-disclosure agreement document with us.
After understanding the client’s requirements with our internal team, we send them a development roadmap and ensure to deliver the decided deliverables within the scheduled timeline.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
While comparing the time to create the front-end and back-end of a digital solution, backend development requires more time. Considering the ratio for the time taken to develop front-end and back-end, we can say it is 1:4.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
While choosing the right platform for a digital solution, we always look out for the robust yet upgraded platform that can handle the multiple load requests at a time. The selection of the platform depends on the intent of the project. In case a mobile app needs to be developed, the platform can be Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid model based on the client requirements. Selection of a platform depends on the factors, including the type of application, number of users, permissions requirements, and much more. We always consider choosing industry-grade platforms.
Which platform do you suggest your clients begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
It depends on the client’s preference and requirements. Clients usually select the platform based on their location, interest, and users. Since our company is US-based, most of the clients prefer iOS over Android. Though we consult which could be the ideal platform for our client, it is all up to the client’s choice.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Hybrid is the best platform.
Both native and hybrid models are in great demand these days. It typically depends on client requirements. However, native app development is quite expensive than Hybrid app development. If the applications do not have features related to animation effects, then it is recommended to go ahead with the hybrid framework. Also, Hybrid application can be the right choice in case the client requires an application or MVP in short timeframe.

The cost of a digital solution depends on the following factors:

Yes, we take projects that should meet our minimum budget requirement which is $20k.

Which business model do you suggest to your clients, enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
I recommend that the client must have a strategy in place to generate revenue from the Digital solution. However, we always ensure to provide our clients with better advice when they consult us during the initial stage of the development. We share result-driven growth hack ideas with our clients to help them generate high revenue.
