Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company.
FluidX Creations is a digital agency founded in 2014 and is based out of Mumbai. We provide custom web solutions for start-ups and large, small & medium sized enterprises. We focus on development and digital marketing. Initially, we started doing graphic design work and used to work as a freelancer on projects. This led us to having our own start-up and gradually we added more services to our portfolio.
I am the Founder and CEO of FluidX Creations. I operate on the day to day strategies and handle the web development team.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing an application.
It depends on the project requirements. For basic projects, the time frame is around 1-2 weeks. And if the requirements increase, the time frame increases accordingly. We have a process of design, develop, test, deploy. These are the phases amongst which the total time is divided.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of an application?
From our experience, most of the time goes in the development of the front end because we have to optimize until the client expectations are completely fulfilled and the client is satisfied. For the back end, the time taken depends on the requirements. However, generally it is a 60:40 ratio, 60% of time is dedicated for front end development and 40% of time is dedicated for back end development.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors / outsourcing?
We follow an in-house team model. However, sometimes when we require some specific skills set, we hire contract based developers.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Our main USP is our quality and cost. We provide complete transparency in pricing. We have different pricing models which suit the companies well. Also, the quality of our projects is the best.
What industries do you generally cater to? What ratio of your clients is repetitive?
We generally do not limit ourselves to work for a particular industry. Though the projects that we’ve done till now have been mostly business websites and projects from the entertainment industry. I would say, almost 80% of our clients are repetitive.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for an application?
That again depends on the project and client requirements. We consult with the client and understand their requirements before deciding on a particular platform.
Which platforms or technologies do you prefer to use in developing the applications?
Generally, we prefer working on PHP. And if there is some up gradation work like updating the blogs we suggest using CMS.
Do you offer website design templates or customised website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
Yes, we offer redesigning and customisations as well. We have recently started with website design templates. The customers can directly buy the templates and we can integrate them in their website. Yes, we have a responsive website design.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
This again depends on what the client wants. Sometimes the clients just want us to develop the website and they look after the maintenance of the website. But most of the times we only maintain the websites that we have developed for our clients. So, for around 80% of the clients we do the website maintenance.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of an application?
There are multiple factors that help us in deciding the cost of the application. First is the resource that we dedicate to develop the project. If resources allocated for a project are more, the cost definitely goes up. Second is the time frame of developing the application. At times, the clients want the application to be developed quickly. In that case, we need to allocate more resources for that particular project, so the cost increases accordingly.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients?
We follow two models – Fixed Cost and Pay per Feature. Depending on the client’s project and requirements either of the payment structure models can be implemented.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement?
No, we do not have any minimum budget requirement.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2015?
Minimum was around US$400 and maximum was around US$1500.
