Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company.
The company was established in 2014 and we have 2 founders, Saurabh Tiwari and Rajat Pathak, and I am one of the Founders. Our main focus is in the mobile application domain. The main idea behind having our own start-up was the era that was rapidly advancing in technology. Since we belonged to the technical field and were experts in various technologies, it made perfect sense to have our own company which could take in new ideas of clients and develop mobile applications based on them. This led us to work on different projects including government projects as well.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
We discuss with the clients first about the scope and requirements of their project. Based on that, we prepare a wireframe and decide the flow of the project. We then take a call based on the complexity and the resources that are required to dedicate for the project. After this, we talk to the client and decide on a mutually agreed time frame to complete the development of the application.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile application?
We start with the designing of the project so that we can give options to the client for choosing the designs. Simultaneously, another team works on the development and backend part. So, it generally depends on the project and the client requirements through which we are able to allocate the time for front end and back end.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors / outsourcing?
We have a complete in-house team of experienced and dedicated developers. So, we do the complete development work in-house only. We also have our franchise in Delhi which is our development center as well; and Uruguay which is our sales team location.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Our company is one of the most genuine and unique companies that a client will come across. We have developers with 5+ years of experience in the mobile application domain. We give around 120 days of free support and offer flexible work timings to our clients. If a client is from some other country, we make sure that we are available for support at their convenient timings.
Which are the industries that you cater to? What ratios of your clients are repetitive?
We do no limit ourselves to a particular industry. We cater to all sorts of projects and recently we have started working on government projects as well. Till now, we’ve worked on various projects from the food industry. For us, 90% of our clients have been repetitive.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
It largely depends on the type of features that the client wants to include in the application. The kind of technologies they want to use for the application, the complexity of the application and the functionalities to be included in the application helps us decide the platform to be chosen.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Choosing between Android or iOS platform to build the application on depends on the project and differs accordingly.
Hybrid platform is generally very cheap as compared to the native platform. However, we work mostly on the native platform as it is very clean, easy to use and user-friendly.
Out of all the projects that you delivered in last 1 year, how much % of clients agreed with going first with the platform suggested by you?
I would say, around 80-85% of the clients have agreed to develop on the platform suggested by us.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The cost depends on the features and the type of application it is. Depending on this the developers will be able to decide on the time and resources required to dedicate for the development of a particular project.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients?
We follow a Milestone model to bill the clients. An agreement is signed initially between us and the client stating all the processes, scope, technologies, work flow etc. We take an upfront payment of 10-15% of the total cost and then rest of the amount is divided into 4-5 milestones based on the project.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement?
We do projects worth atleast US$1500.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2015?
Minimum was around US$1800 and maximum was around US$18000.
Which business model do you suggest to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
It generally depends on the kind of target audience that you’re catering to. However, I would suggest whatever application it is, first, it should be published for free on the market place so that we can evaluate the response that the application is getting. Based on the response, we could take the decision of going with a free app model or set a particular cost to download the app.
