Dev Technosys an ISO: 9001:2008 certified web & mobile applications development company having head-office in Jaipur, India. Dev Technosys is one of the global leaders in mobile app and website development. Being the CEO and founder of the company, I am responsible to make the business decisions and monitor the complete internal and external processes of the company. I also monitor all the running projects and assist clients to ensure that their expectations are always met.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
“You imagine and we bring IT to life”. With this mission, we at Dev Technosys Pvt. Ltd. always want to deliver innovation and uniqueness in our projects. We ensure that our work is devoid of stereotyping and is very close to our clients’ imagination and expectation.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We do not out-source any work and do all the work in-house. We have a very comprehensive project management methodology to manage the project throughout all product development phases, everything from documentation to development is to be implemented by our team only as we are a team of 70+ members that comprises of BAs, UI/UX designers, Web developers, App developers (Native and Hybrid), QAs and SEO professional thus all the services are done under one roof. We never out-source our client projects because we understand the importance of a product from client's perspective and we do not want to hamper the quality of work by outsourcing it. Also, client's satisfaction is our first and foremost priority thus we develop complete project in-house.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
See every company has its own standard business model to manage project processes, so there is no method to compare best business model as every company do best to maintain its work relationship. We won’t say that we do have the most phenomenal business model but yes our people are very passionate and enthusiastic about work, so they always do their best. If we talk about responsiveness, communication, 24x7 availability, technical expertise etc. then these are most important factors to make any project successful.
We work with a sophisticated and transparent project management methodology that allows our clients to keep themselves aware of every single phase work status with modules, work schedules etc. We always keep ourselves available for discussion which can take place with any IM. We also work with the various project management tool and repository as per client preference as it helps us out to maintain every single line of code, notes, discussions, testing reports, backups and everything that is essential for a project. The most important thing is that we do have a team of 70+ professional, so everything related to a project takes place in-house only and every single project managed by a separate team to avoid conflicts.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We work under all major industry segments available in the market like fashion, custom designing tools, sports, retail, marketplace, auctioning, financing, social media, learning, on demand, video/audio calls, events and lot more.
We have a significant success and repeat rate of customers. The ratio can be said to be around 65%.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The development cost of any particular mobile application totally depends on the features and functionality that we have to implement but the most critical things can be following; Development Environment like Native or Hybrid Technology, Back-end panel requirements and web-services, Third party API integrations, Mobile app platform dependencies, No of user versions within the application, The complexity of the data structure, Server requirements and setup cost like Cloud server, streaming server, normal hosting server etc.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
It’s completely dependent upon the project requirements like what level of complex solution we have to develop, what user interfaces need to be created and how they are going to be interacting with each other.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
The key parameters to select the right platform for application development are; Project requirements, Complex features, External APIs integration, Syncing with the pre-existing platform and Client’s intended Budget.
Which platform do you suggest your clients, to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
As we all know, the two biggest players in the Smartphone market are Android and iOS. Generally, we receive requests for developing applications for both platforms rather than developing for a single platform. But if they are not sure about it, then being the key player in client’s dream project, we try to find as many details as possible about their main motto behind their idea, their target area, and audience. After analyzing all such aspects, we recommend them the best platform to grow their business.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We do work with Native and Hybrid both. These both platforms are very versatile in nature with pre-built library and have their own importance, so we can’t compare both platforms. The selection of these platforms completely depends on our client’s choice, application functionality as well as client’s intended budget. Sometimes we prefer to move with the native application as its more reliable and scalable solution provider with simple yet interactive UI and very soft in response.
In many cases we have to use HTML and JS solution to build up customization solution then we always prefer to pick Hybrid technology as it can offer better solutions for such level of requirements and easy to handle as well.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The most deciding factors to calculate the development cost of application are Technology, Number and type of devices the app will run on, Project functionality, Complexity, The need of third party integrations, UI/UX requirements, Resources required, Timeline, any additional task requested by the client (if any).
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
It completely depends on app requirements and client demands like whether he/she wants to move with the fixed model, hourly model or daily price model. Most of the times we break the whole project under various modules or milestones & then the clients need to pay accordingly.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We generally work on system development projects from scratch that starts from $7,000. But the budget is not always our primary criteria for projects. Our prime focus is to find good clients who have a potential to build long-term business relationships or have projects with interesting subjects that may add value to our portfolio. In that case, we are always open to negotiate and come-down on a common ground.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2016?
We generally do projects between USD 5000 to USD 150,000.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
Generally, the revenue related suggestions are based on the client’s requirements or based on the features we need to implement. Apart from this, implementing monetization models like chart boost, Google AdMob or suggesting features like pay-per-download, paid subscriptions, free and paid versions of apps etc. are also quite good for revenue generation.
Additionally, we also offer them complimentary business marketing web page through which they can easily market their business model to the target audience & easily employ SEO for the same.
