Please introduce your product and give a brief about your role within the organization.
MarkMagic is CYBRA’s barcode labeling software. Since the 1990s, the software has been relied on by many of the largest apparel and manufacturing companies around the world such as New Balance, TJX Companies, REI, Best Buy, and many more. Along with being available as a standalone product, MarkMagic is built into several popular WMS/ERP products such as Manhattan Associates, WMS, and VAI S2k. Originally an IBM Power Systems i product, over the years we have expanded MarkMagic’s support of other platforms and now have compatibility with Linux, Windows, IBM AIX, as well as the cloud.

While I am the CEO and co-founder of CYBRA, in the company’s early days I was also the lead programmer. Out of my basement in the Bronx, I led our team in making several major developments for MarkMagic. Those developments put MarkMagic on the map in the industry, with the software now used by thousands of brands around the world. And with a continued commitment to growth and improvement, I’m proud to say we recently released the 10th version of MarkMagic (MarkMagic X).  While my days operating as the lead programmer have diminished some as our company has grown, I remain aptly involved in providing effective leadership and clear direction for all MarkMagic related projects and development.
What was the objective behind coming up with this software?
Way back in the late ‘80s, we identified a market need for bar code label software.  With such a finding, we developed the proprietary software product now known as MarkMagic with our very first version of the software released in 1990.
How does your software stand out when compared to other software alternatives available in the market?
What makes MarkMagic different from other labeling software products is that users can design, maintain, and print - not just labels, but also forms, and any other mission-critical documents. Unlike our competition, MarkMagic is also licensed for an unlimited number of printers. MarkMagic natively supports over 450 printer types including Zebra, SATO, Epson, and dozens more.

Additionally, MarkMagic runs on any platform including IBM i, Windows, Linux, Unix, IBM AIX, and the cloud. MarkMagic is the print engine inside many leading WMS/ERP solutions such as Manhattan Associates WMS, VAI S2k, Infor, Varsity Logistics, ABS (Apparel Business Systems), and others.

This makes MarkMagic an attractive option for both mid-market and larger enterprise operations.
What industries do you generally cater to? Which industries in general, benefit most from your software?
While MarkMagic can be useful anywhere labeling and forms development is required, we are largely focused on streamlining manufacturing and distribution processes worldwide. Many popular retail brands use MarkMagic to get their products into the hands of trusted customers all over. MarkMagic functions as a key cog in hundreds of brand name supply chains, mass-producing appropriate shipping labels, packing slips, e-commerce forms, and many other company-specific documents. Major companies in healthcare, retail, apparel, consumer goods, and luxury brands use MarkMagic in this capacity.
What are the key features of your software that makes it stand apart from your competitor products in the market?
There are a few things that really separate MarkMagic from the competition. MarkMagic natively supports over 450 printer types including Zebra, SATO, Epson, and dozens more. Also, MarkMagic runs on any platform including IBM i, Windows, Linux, Unix, IBM AIX, and the cloud. MarkMagic is the print engine inside many leading WMS/ERP solutions such as Manhattan Associates WMS, VAI S2k, Infor, Varsity Logistics, ABS (Apparel Business Systems), and others.
What is your customer satisfaction rate? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
I’m happy to report that our most recent customer survey (performed by Dun & Bradstreet) presented us with a 95% customer satisfaction rate. At the core of such success is our exceptional technical support team. We regularly receive glowing reviews from customers commending our support team for their high-end support and responsiveness.
Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what is the percentage of repeat customers that you have?
We have a very high customer retention rate. Somewhere around 99%. Once our customers see the value in our products, they tend to stick around. Our top-notch customer support and competitive prices make CYBRA an attractive business partner.
Does your software product provide any resource or knowledge section for its users? If yes, what kind of material is provided to your users to help them get acquainted with your product?
Yes, we offer helpful documentation and onboarding resources for users in the form of:
•    High-level overviews of our software’s key features.
•    Live training sessions.
•    On-demand video tutorials.
•    Application Programming Interface (API) documentation.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
For initial queries, we offer live chats, consultations, and demos. We also provide live webinars and presentations. For folks curious about our technology, we also provide ebooks and other informational media. And, for clients using MarkMagic for the first time, we can assist in installation and setup.
What has been the revenue for your product for 2020?
It was a strong year for MarkMagic. But, more importantly, we were able to provide vital tools for our customers during one of the most difficult years in my memory. When the pandemic was at its peak, we offered our products that cater to working from home for free. Many customers took us up on the offer. While the Pandemic brought about some major challenges for us and our customers, we are proud of our performance and how we remained a strong partner for our users.
Where do you see your product in the next 10 years?
There are tons of exciting developments on the horizon. We will be rolling out a web-based version of MarkMagic in the near future. We are also in the early phases of developing a light version of MarkMagic for small businesses. As online shopping grows, we believe it will be important for MarkMagic to be available for a range of brands – whether that’s a company with a Shopify site or a major enterprise.

The need for reliable labeling will only grow as supply chains become more complex. With its track record for success, I anticipate MarkMagic to remain a top, if not, the top name in barcode labeling software.
