Gnosis is a decentralized, full-stack, user-owned platform for open finance that is governed by its community (GnosisDAO) and powered by the GNO token.

Over its ten-year history, the company has evolved through distinct phases:

Key Pillars of Gnosis

• Gnosis Chain: A credibly neutral Ethereum sidechain utilizing a massive validator set (>300,000 validators) to ensure zero downtime, low fees, and decentralized security.
• Gnosis Pay: A self-custodial payment network that bridges Web3 assets with real-world spending via crypto debit cards, operating much like traditional fintech but with full user control.
• Metri: An intuitive user interface for everyday crypto interactions, fully integrated with ecosystem tools.
• Gnosis HQ: The developer and business anchor of the ecosystem, providing SDKs and core infrastructure tools.

Historical Evolution

• Gnosis 1.0 (2015–2017): Founded right after Ethereum's launch, it began inside the Consensys ecosystem as a bold experiment in decentralized prediction markets. During this era, it built the Conditional Tokens Framework (which laid the groundwork for future applications like Polymarket).
• Gnosis 2.0 (2017–2025): Operating independently out of Berlin, Gnosis shifted toward architecting Ethereum’s missing infrastructure pieces. It successfully incubated and spun out foundational Web3 tools, including:
  • Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe) – A premier smart contract wallet securing over $100 billion in assets.
  • CoW Protocol (formerly Gnosis Protocol) – A decentralized exchange protocol utilizing batch auctions to protect users from MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) losses.
  • Zodiac – A modular governance framework turning Safe wallets into customizable operating systems for DAOs.
• Gnosis 3.0 (Present & Beyond): Following a community-approved consolidation proposal in July 2025 (GIP-128), Gnosis shifted away from spinning out separate projects. Today, it operates as a unified brand, consolidating its core applications under the central GNO token to build a seamless, fintech-like open financial system.
