TWINOAKS

Twin Oaks is an intentional community located in rural Virginia, USA, founded in 1967. It is built around principles of cooperation, equality, nonviolence, and shared economic responsibility. The community consists of around 100 members who live and work together, sharing income, resources, and decision-making in a democratic and collaborative system.

The community is largely self-sustaining, operating several internal businesses such as hammock production, tofu manufacturing, and book indexing to support its members financially. Alongside economic activities, Twin Oaks emphasizes sustainable living, social equality, and ecological responsibility, creating a unique lifestyle model that blends communal living with modern organizational practices.
