The survey titled, “5 Mobile App Development Trends that Could Change How You Develop an App in 2025,” was conducted in Jan 2025. Goodfirms surveyed 725 businesses worldwide.
Almost all businesses (100%) expect AI to transform the app development cycle in 2025. However, significant obstacles such as security and privacy threaten to be a major challenge unless developers adopt stringent strategies. Apart from the top 5 app development trends indicated by the survey participants, there are other value additions, including AI Chatbots, Voice UI, large language models (LLM), Automated coding, Blockchain app development, IoT app development, and AR/VR app development.
“Our latest app development survey confirms what we’re seeing with our research partners: organizations are doubling on AI investments,” says Goodfirms. “The research data also shows growing momentum around AI-based app development. Although investments have increased, there is a pressure to prove ROI, and getting the value is equally important,” added Goodfirms.
Regarding app design, major trends indicated by the survey participants include voice-enabled interfaces, Adaptive UI/UX, Minimalist Design, gesture-based navigation, Blockchain-based authentication, 3D design elements, dark-mode optimization, and LLM-driven designs.
Goodfirms surveyed the experts on the frontend development frameworks that will dominate in 2025. According to the research participants, React, Flutter, Vui.js, Angular, Svelte, jQuery, EmberJS, Semantic, Preact, and SolidJS are the top frontend languages.
When asked about the trends in mobile app frameworks for backend development, Goodfirms was able to gather input on Django, Laravel, ASP.NET, Ruby on Rails, Flask, Phoenix, CakePHP, Koa, Node, and Node.js.
2025 is the year of AI-powered super apps. 48.3% indicated they will definitely invest in super apps in 2025.
