Zerone is a custom application development company specializing in AI-powered software solutions. Founded over 22 years ago, Zerone has grown by helping organizations build bespoke web, mobile, and enterprise applications that are scalable, secure, and designed to evolve alongside their business. As the Founder & CEO, my role is to define the long-term strategy of the company while ensuring that we stay true to the principles on which Zerone was built. What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
Zerone was founded over two decades ago with a simple but enduring belief: strong technology companies are built on trust and long-term relationships, not short-term transactions. From the very beginning, the focus was on deeply understanding customer needs and building custom solutions that could grow alongside their businesses, while also creating a workplace where talented people would choose to stay and build their careers.

What best reflects this founding philosophy is that we continue to work with our very first customer and our very first employee even today, more than 22 years later. This continuity is not incidental, it is the result of deliberate choices around how we partner with clients, how we treat our people, and how we measure success. These early relationships shaped Zerone’s culture, values, and approach, and they continue to influence how we build long-term partnerships and teams today.

Our in-house expertise spans the entire software development lifecycle, including business analysis, solution architecture, UI/UX design, application development, quality assurance, security, cloud engineering, AI, and R&D. This diversity of skills allows us to take full ownership of projects, from initial discovery and design through development, deployment, and ongoing evolution.

From the beginning, the platform we developed was mission-critical to their business model.

As the client’s business gained traction, the platform evolved continuously with our support. We worked closely with them to expand functionality, improve scalability and performance, and adapt the architecture to meet the needs of a growing B2B customer base. The platform went through multiple phases of enhancement and transformation as the business matured and market expectations evolved.

Over time, the client experienced significant growth and eventually became part of a larger enterprise. We have also worked with customers from education, financial services, recruitment, real estate, and media  &publishing. Around 70-75% of our work comes from repeat clients, many of whom have been with us for over a decade.

Innovation at Zerone is driven by a deliberate and structured approach, supported by a dedicated in-house R&D team. This team focuses on exploring emerging technologies, building prototypes, and validating new ideas before they are introduced into client-facing solutions. This ensures that innovation is practical, relevant, and aligned with real-world use cases.

We actively monitor technology trends across AI, cloud platforms, development frameworks, and security practices. Our teams stay continuously updated through industry research, technical communities, and regular internal knowledge-sharing sessions. Zerone follows transparent and flexible engagement models designed to align with our clients’ needs and reduce delivery risk. Depending on the nature and maturity of the project, we typically work with Fixed Price, Time & Materials (T&M), and Hybrid models.
For well-defined scopes with clear deliverables, we offer a Fixed Price model, which provides clarity on cost, timelines, and outcomes, and is often suited for MVPs or focused development initiatives. For larger or evolving projects that require flexibility, our Time & Materials (T&M) model allows clients to scale teams and priorities iteratively while maintaining full visibility into effort and progress.

We also offer a Hybrid engagement model, which combines the predictability of a fixed scope for core deliverables with the flexibility of T&M for evolving requirements or specialized skills. Across all models, our invoicing is milestone-based, ensuring that clients are billed only after agreed deliverables are completed and reviewed.

That said, we also evaluate opportunities based on complexity, strategic value, and long-term commercial viability. For projects that present meaningful technical challenges or strong potential for long-term collaboration, we are open to structuring engagements in a way that works for both parties, while remaining commercially sensible. We place greater value on building sustained, long-term relationships and continuing engagements than on short-term gains, and where such alignment exists, the minimum budget is not necessarily a limiting factor.
