Reliable MFA for FortiGate VPN with on-premise deployment

We implemented Protectimus RADIUS to enable multi-factor authentication for our FortiGate VPN because we needed a solution that could run on-premises. The deployment process was fairly simple, and once everything was configured, the system worked reliably. It’s easy for administrators to manage and also straightforward for end users to work with. Overall, it gave us more confidence in the security of our VPN access.

What do you like the most about Protectimus?

The main advantage for us was the ability to deploy the system on-premises and keep full control over our infrastructure and data. The platform integrates well with VPN authentication through RADIUS, and the interface is quite easy to manage. I also appreciated how responsive the support team has been whenever we had questions during deployment.

What do you like the least about Protectimus?

Some parts of the setup documentation could be more detailed, especially for specific integration scenarios. Because of that, we occasionally needed to reach out to support during the initial deployment, which slightly slowed things down.

What I liked most was how simple it was to deploy and manage Winlogon MFA across our Windows environment. It didn’t require complex configuration and has been stable in long-term use.

What do you like the least about Protectimus?

Initially, the lack of a backup option for the authenticator app felt like a limitation. However, this was addressed later through updates, so it’s no longer an issue for me.

Securing RDP, VPN, and Custom Apps

We use a combination of Protectimus products to secure our entire setup with multi-factor authentication. This includes RDP, VPN, and our custom document management system. We chose Protectimus because it let us add MFA to our custom system using API. Employees can pick from several authentication methods, but most use the Protectimus Smart app. All products are well-made, easy to set up, and simple to use. I can genuinely recommend Protectimus.

My experience with Protectimus on-premise MFA platform

We introduced two-factor authentication to our OpenVPN system with the help of Protectimus's on-premise platform. Our top priority is keeping user data in-house, which is why we didn't consider cloud-based MFA services. Thankfully, the on-premise platform performs excellently, and we're quite satisfied with it.
