Well, let’s rephrase this definition and look at it the other way; a leader is a person who works with a group of people towards the goal of being successful collectively, while leadership is the act of taking accurate steps that can help the whole group to reach the level of success.

An ordinary man would think of his benefit while doing a task. At the same time, a leader looks at the bigger picture, i.e., doing whatever efforts it takes to achieve the goal, risk-taking, and most importantly persuade other group members to perform the task.
How to know if a person is a good leader or not?
Not every leader is a good leader. It takes a lot of effort, time, and dedication to making people trust in you and follow in your footsteps. Generally, there are two kinds of leaders; influential leaders and efficient leaders. A good leader is one who adapts the qualities of both types of leaders. In simpler words, a good leader is one who:
Shares the Credit
A leader is not selfish but selfless. A good leader knows what the group has achieved and where it lacked. So whatever has been completed, a good leader gives credit to each member involved in the process.

- Delegate your members with responsibility. When people are given a particular workload with guilt, they tend to work faster with extra motivation and effort. A good leader lets people around him grow.
- Appreciation: A good leader celebrates the skills and talents of his members.
- Be lenient yet challenging: A good leader makes his teammates realize that they have to thrive hard. A little discomfort will not harm them; the process begins when one takes chances.
- Acceptance: Learn to take the heat. If something you did as a leader did not turn out fruitful, take the blame. Good leaders do not make excuses or transfer the responsibility for their mistakes onto others.
- Value and connection: One of the essential qualities of a good leader is the power of connection. When you work as a team, you need to make sure all your members feel valued and welcomed. This can be done by trusting them, giving a little command over certain things, involving them in the decision-making process, and valuing their ideas.
How Can A Person Be A Good Leader?
No one is born a leader, an employee, or an entrepreneur. This is what a person becomes when he/she looks out for his skills and abilities, what he/she is capable of and how he/she thinks. This kind of approach works best while leading senior leaders or managers. Here, it focuses on giving the members a massive percentage of control and authority.

Before attending a leadership training program, a person should self analyze himself and his capabilities. Once a person does self-evaluation, this is what he can expect out of himself that can tell whether he can be a leader or not.

Although leadership training programs are said to be very successful in the long run, there are high chances that some of them might even fail. Few reasons could be:
- No prior planning: To run a successful program, management members and leaders should discuss the content and the possible outcomes.
- Learning over Transferring: Leadership training programs fail to deliver content that can have a long-term impact on a person. They focus more on transferring bookish knowledge instead of making them learn qualities that can stay with them even when they leave the conference rooms.
- Follow up: No one prefers a person who just speaks for the sake of talking. Leadership training programs fail because the speakers or motivators do not implement what they deliver. If a person can not see the abilities in you, he will lose interest in your content.
- Area of concern: One main problem is that the speaker spends more time delivering the content and less developing the leaders in leadership training programs. The audience needs personal development, not words or paragraphs of already available knowledge.

- Teaches you how to manage your attitude and behaviors: Leadership training programs can help you in managing your perspective, the ways you go around and interact with others, as well as how you deal with certain situations(in a rush, under pressure).

- The standard for success: know what you are working towards, your goals, and what standard you have set according to your vision. When people attend leadership training programs, they look for a mentor, a guide. To achieve this, speakers should set a clear vision and goal.
- Enhance evaluation skills: Selection of CEOs in various firms is carried out inefficiently due to lack of inadequate resources and unskilled evaluators. Hence, they rely on their own inexperienced, unqualified evaluation. Trained and skillful board members should be elected to select CEOs for the company properly.
