Enterprise

As a manufacturer, Daikin has a unique partnership with the installers who install its appliances at the end customer's premises. To further support these professionals, Daikin developed a digital toolkit.

Thanks to these digital applications, Daikin is helping installers, making them more likely to choose a Daikin heat pump or refrigeration equipment. In addition, the tools also allow Daikin to gain more insight into how consumers use its devices.

Create the tools to make Daikin the preferred brand for installers.

The work of installers involves several steps. Together with Daikin, we explored what digital tools we could develop to best support installers. Our solutions focus on three aspects of the customer journey: pre-sales, installation and after-sales.

e-Care wasn’t built in one day.

This is a project that Aaltra has been working on for more than five years. We built the toolkit feature by feature and had it validated. Our way of working allowed us to question and adjust the roadmap together with Daikin each time.

Daikin e-Care was developed on legacy infrastructure. That meant we had to think flexibly and not be deterred by an atypical development. The project is a combination of native development and progressive web applications.

Daikin e-Care is currently active in 31 countries. We’ve made it easy to roll-out country-specific versions and translations.

Because Daikin operates globally, we developed a framework that allows rapid scaling up to another country. For example, one can decide which features are needed per country.

THE RESULT

  • 72% yearly user growth
  • 7x more installation registrations
  • Mobile and offline access to 509 product manuals in 22 languages

Startups

Specter is an ambitious Belgian startup creating the most advanced s-pedelec ever. Aaltra operates as their technological partner, giving Specter the necessary input for the perfect start.

The bike quickly became a connected experience that seamlessly blends with our daily routines, thanks to our work. We never compromised on quality and features while laying the technical foundations for the future.

Startups often depend on funding. And to get funding, you need to have a budget. To have a budget, you need a roadmap. And so on, and so on…

Unless you know how to build your idea yourself, you need to rely on external partners. You need help creating the roadmap, selecting the technology and estimating the budget. And since you’re not sure your idea is viable, you need to be careful about the budget.

We created a system architecture that responds to every startup's primary challenges: an optimal balance between scalability and budget.

The IoT back-end, created with Blockbax, securely stores and visualizes all sensor data uploaded by the bikes. Next, we made it possible to directly connect to the bike from a mobile app over Bluetooth.

What if we could offer a user experience similar to one of the famous car manufacturers?

The hub is the homebase of your Specter bike. Its responsive UI shows all essential parameters and has a GPS that you can operate via your smartphone. It will automatically advise the best route and give weather updates or information on your battery life.

We were going to fine-tune the idea for an technician application during a Product Specification workshop. We couldn't simply link to the cloud platform to show documentation and technical drawings; we needed to come up with a more user-friendly solution.

The work of installers involves several steps. Together with Lightstream, we explored what digital tools we could develop to best support technicians. Our solutions focus on three aspects of the customer journey: pre-sales, installation and after-sales.

We developed a Progressive Web App that can be installed on any tablet without any issues or security audits, since we are sandboxed within the browser. We then connected to the Egnyte software via an API layer.
For the Apple Vision Pro we developed a native wrapper which enables the cabinet manager to be used in the spatial computing environment.

THE RESULT

  • Go to market within 3 months instead of 12
  • Created a UX-friendly layer above the cloud platform without impacting internal processes
  • Technical sales support from within Aaltra

While the SMARTLINK web interface provides customer with realtime tracking of their full compressed air installation, it remained challenging to receive important alerts on their mobile devices. This can lead to missing important notifications that can improve the reliability and efficiency of their installation.

So the challenge was providing an effective mobile solution for customers who needed access to critical equipment information when away from their desks.

Atlas Copco recognized the need for a comprehensive solution that would transform how customers monitor, maintain, and optimize their utility room while significantly improving user adoption through better design and technology.

At Aaltra, we approached this challenge with our signature methodology that combines deep technical expertise with human-centered design. Together with the Atlas Copco development team, we embraced a blended team approach to ensure seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the project.

We applied our proven collaboration methodology by establishing a detailed project roadmap with comprehensive technical specifications and budgetary frameworks. This foundational phase included developing visual concepts for critical mobile interfaces and defining the complete technical architecture, ensuring both teams were aligned before moving into development.

We developed the mobile app for SMARTLINK, an IoT-powered mobile solution that gives users complete data-driven insights into their compressed air installation on the go.

The solution features:

Push notifications: Users now receive immediate notifications about equipment status and can manage their notification settings directly through the mobile app

Enhanced Mobile Experience: The redesigned Atlas Copco SMARTLINK app puts all essential information at users' fingertips, accessible anytime and anywhere.
