Alphee

In Greek mythology, Alpheus the hunter (Alphée in French) was a river god who fell in love with the nymph Arethusa, who was transformed into a well by the goddess Artemis. Alpheus crossed the oceans so his waters would mix with those of his beloved.

An image of permanence and fertility, the river is also a symbol of regeneration and transformation.
