Our client was a company that develops ERP systems for different businesses. In this case, we worked with the software built for logistics companies that offer sea cargo transportation services. Being one of the pioneers of offering solutions of this kind for businesses, our client faced such a situation when the existing software turned out to be obsolete and its modernization was required urgently. The solutions included two parts: a desktop part that was used by logistics experts and a web part that was targeted at the clients of these logistics companies.

Our customer is a known Eastern Europe based construction holding with security systems manufacturing division. Client has its own turnkey solutions for access control and fire alarm systems. Core client's expertise - full cycle hardware solutions development, from concept of the design, hardware design and architecture to manufacturing, sales and support. One of the tenant customer's advantages - strong firmware development team with 30+ years expertise.

Nowadays modern access control system is a large set of software modules that perform various functions, not only related to the admission of a particular person to a given room. Most of these modules are implemented at the software level, and expand the capabilities of the hardware access control system, while working with various peripheral equipment.

Subsystem of management of visitors of the enterprise (constant and temporary passes for visitors);

Vehicle access control (contact, manual, automatic modes);

Implementation of a checkpoint for visitors and vehicles, with the ability to control visitors;

Subsystem of reports and records of employees' working hours, time sheets, etc.;

Work with biometric devices;

Manufacturing, printing of admissions and much more;

Integrations with 3rd-party systems for sending reports to ERP, CRM, XMR;

Receiving information and administration from the higher level - Integrated security system;

Integrations for other security subsystem, for instance, show specified video camera video to the specified monitor in case of predefined emergency and so forth;

On this project, we have implemented all of the above modules and even more. We have applied the long-term experience in developing software for security systems to make software as convenient, practical and relevant to all current trends and functionalities as possible.

Our customer is a global integrator of security systems. The customer provides turnkey solutions for any type of security systems and clients, from an atomic station to a global international bank.

The client made a decision to develop its own high-level integrated security system, which would operate all standalone security subsystems as a whole. Our client is a partner of dozens of well-known security system manufacturers and knows all their systems very well. For each new client or object, the company tries to suggest the best solutions and take the best from each security system. Sometimes it's necessary to integrate security systems with each other, even if these systems don’t have ready-to-use SDKs and APIs.

The client also has its own high-level highly skilled software development team. But for the development of brand-new software, it was decided to involve the dedicated offshore team and to use their own team for current and future support. The key requirement for the new team was proven expertise in software development in the security system technical domain.

Based on the customer's experience of cooperation with our company in the past, the customer chose us as their strategic partner for this new project.

The client already had their own developments of some parts of integrated security systems, the work on them started in the early 90s. We had a goal to merge the company’s experience, their vision and their developments together with modern and cutting-end technologies and frameworks.

In each country or region (including the European Union) each local market has its own list of security systems that can be used for objects, companies and buildings of high importance. All security systems should be certified. Only after the system is by the national or regional certification authority, can it be used for the existing and new objects.

Our customer asked us to help them to integrate their system with the first-time certified burglar alarm security system. We had to integrate the existing integrated security system used by the client's office security service with a brand-new system.

We faced two serious issues :

• The vendor didn't have external integration for its security system at all;

• We had a requirement to monitor events and signals that at the same time had to be sent to the police department via "closed" communication channels;

• Our client (the organization that was going to use this brandnew integration) is a bureaucratic organization with multiple levels of approvement of any technical and technological solutions including necessary internal certifications;
