Open Gates, a family of businesses located in the Kalona-Wellman area of southeast Iowa, owns and operates Awesome Refrigerated Transit of Iowa (ARTI).
What’s with the name, you ask? The local community commonly calls the cross street near our building Awesome Corner. We run awesome businesses, so the name was a natural fit!
ARTI began operations in 2013 to provide transportation services for other companies within the Open Gates family, all of which are part of the natural and organic dairy industry. After covering those loads, ARTI quickly began sourcing loads for other customers as well as backhauls into eastern Iowa.
