BMG Media Co. was founded in 2009 to help local business associates build out their brands, designs, and websites amidst the turmoil of our nation’s recession. BMG Media Co. quickly grew to become a successful business that has serviced over 1000 clients to date in multiple countries. Although we call Birmingham, MI home, we globally source all of our vendors and have satellite offices in multiple countries to service our clients 24/7.

Our sweet spot is custom web design and software development. We also excel at providing branding, e-commerce solutions and mobile application development for startups and small & large-size businesses. With our vast expertise in multiple industries, we understand what our clients need and craft the perfect solution. While other companies in our industry stick to stock templates that are fast and easy, we take a methodical, custom approach with the tools to scale your business on mobile and on the web.

Our decision to open our business during the recession became more than our history. It became our battle cry. We refuse to back down and follow a template. We are explorers who forage into unknown territory, our eyes open, ready to seize any opportunity.

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
After graduating from Michigan State University, I founded BMG Media Co. in 2009. BMG Media Co quickly grew to become a successful business that has serviced over 1000 clients to date in multiple countries. Although we call Birmingham, MI home, we globally source all of our vendors and have satellite offices in multiple countries to serve our clients 24/7. I am the CEO, and handle operations, business development and make sure all projects are delivered successfully.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
I established this company to help my local network and business associates build out their brands, designs and websites amidst the turmoil of our nation’s recession in 2009.
What is your company’s business model: In-house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Few of our employees work from different continents; however, they work only for BMG Media and report to us daily.
How is your business model beneficial from a value-added perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
To assist our clients in their project, we are available 24/7. When it comes to services, we’re extremely efficient and responsive; we respond within few minutes. Any small changes are ideally done within an hour by our expert team instead of pushing it aside.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
We cater to almost all industries. Due to our impeccable services we now have a large pool of loyal customers that come back to us year after year for new projects. We mainly work with Small, Medium or Large Sized Businesses with an average revenue of 1 Million+.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
Scoping is one of the most important parameters in determining the timeline of a project. Our development team starts to work on the project as soon as we sign the proposal with our clients. We always under promise and over deliver. Moreover, our relationship with our clients is a 2-way street and hence we can only work as fast as they can deliver us their assets.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
The USP of working with us is we deliver JPG mock-ups of the website to the client before starting the coding process. This ensures clients can recommend any changes before coding starts. Ideally, about 40% of the time goes in frontend development and 60% goes in backend development, however, it depends on the complexity and type of the project.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
While considering key parameters, we lay strong emphasis on the functionalities required. We even keep in mind the future aspects of the project. Most companies develop projects considering only the current perspective without understanding the goals for future growth. The worst thing a company can do to a client is to put them in a position where they have to rebuild as they grow instead of providing them an option of scaling.
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in the development of your web apps?
We prefer mostly Wordpress (everything custom) as well as ReactJS & Python. Depending on the project requirements we utilize ReactNative too.
Do you offer website design templates or customized website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
All of our sites are completely custom and responsive. We don’t ever use pre-made templates.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Jumla, Drupal etc)?
Currently, WordPress is the industry leader and of course the best choice for our clients. We are proud to say that we are a team of developers who are WordPress Experts.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
Yes, we do provide website maintenance services. We provide dedicated cloud hosting through a 3rd party service as well as an insurance plan for malware attacks, browser updates and software updates. This plan also includes a few hours of development/design work for random changes as they come up.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a web application?
We always ask the client about their budget requirements and then start reverse engineering a solution. There are a million things we can do for a client, but making sure we are not overselling them is the key. We have found that most of our clients want to work within their budget and feel comfortable. Once that has been figured out, we give them options as to what they can expect. This always helps to serve our clients by: Under promising and over delivering.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
Majority of our sites are fixed cost. We never request any budget increase unless a client significantly changes scope. Even then, we try to accommodate whatever we can. Payment structures are mostly project dependent. We always take a deposit and structure payments based on milestones or project completion.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We look at all the projects brought to us, but usually, our minimum requirement tends to be approximately between the range of $5,000 - $10,000 and it can vary on a case by case basis. We look for specific clients that believes in us and we can help grow into a long-term relationship.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in2018?
The minimum and maximum price range for the projects of this year was between $5,000 - $400,000
