“Following Industry Norms”
Doing a translation quality test work don't mean that a translator get qualified. I believe any big company such as CHL Localization who are offering quality translation work will never hire & pay you if you are not serving quality translation work.

“They asked me (a translator) to make a shady "test" for them before proceeding working on the project. ”
The test was extremely detailed, looked similar to an actual job, having well over 300 words. In a format that I had many times for real jobs. After submitting the test and send them the email, I waited for days. Never got an answer back. They just give jobs as tests to not have to pay anyone. It's a scam
