CROSSING CHANGE
Every effort, better than the last
Overview
About CROSSING CHANGE
Most organizations already know what needs to change. The problem is they never build the conditions to act on what they know.
The first lessons learned session I ever ran started with a phone call. A government agency manager was overseeing a complex, high-stakes rulemaking. His team was siloed. Collaboration had broken down. Edits were cycling without resolution because policy advisors and attorneys were pulling in different directions — and no one had created the space to work through it.
I had never done one before. I researched, prepared, and thought carefully about how to bring twelve people into a conversation they were ready to have. I set the tone from the first moment. Then I got out of the way and let the room do what rooms can do when people feel safe enough to be honest.
The collaboration that had been breaking down began to work. The writing process that had been stalling became more efficient. The team made their next milestone. The regulation published on time.
I founded CROSSING CHANGE to help leaders use what their organizations already know. Most teams have more insight than they realize. The work is turning that insight into action.
I work with government agencies, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and private sector teams through three offerings — Lessons Learned Labs™, the ACTIVATE System™, and Capability by Design™. Each one is built to help teams perform better on the next effort than they did on the last.
Leaders bring me in at pivotal moments:
→ When a key milestone arrives and the team needs alignment and course correction before moving forward.
→ When a leadership transition requires more than a briefing — and the incoming leader needs to understand what was learned before making decisions.
→ When a strategic review is approaching and execution experience needs to shape what comes next.
→ When the same problems keep surfacing across efforts and no one can explain why.
→ When leadership knows something needs to change — and suspects the answer is already inside the organization.
I publish regularly on lessons learned practice, organizational execution, and the leadership decisions that shape how teams perform. Look for the From the Lab series here on LinkedIn.
Every effort holds intelligence the next one needs. If you are ready to put what your organization knows to work, I would welcome a conversation.
