Challenge

The Customer reached out to us to help improve their existing technology platform for insurance industry stakeholders: insurers, intermediaries, and their customers. The platform consists of a suite of tools for client management, workflows automation, and online sales.

Solution

The main part of the platform is a broker software to manage operations and customer relationships. The software automatically creates deals and draws up quotes for the existing clients, drastically reducing the time spent on processing renewals. The task management features facilitate daily sales and support activities and help the team stay focused on the goals on a client-by-client basis. Email integration provides a simple and safe way to store all client communication in one place.

Another part of the platform is an e-commerce solution to help clients request, compare, and buy insurance online. The clients start by filling in the application forms. Using the information that they provided, the solution generates interactive comparisons so that the clients can view available options and configure their policy. The solution is preconfigured with products from various insurance companies. To complete their order, the clients can upload the needed documents.

The quoting software helps create quotes in no time. As the platform supports insurer integration, the rates are automatically fetched from various insurer systems.

As the platform integrates with the existing clients’ systems, data security and safety are top priority.

Challenge

The main goal of the Customer—a global provider of supply chain optimization solutions for various industries—was to support and enhance their existing platform for all logistics and transportation activities.

Solution

Crunch team of 4–8 developers has been working on the solution for 1 year. The solution represents a dynamic supply chain platform that consists of three parts:

  • Web App for Managers, for enabling supply chain visibility, selecting carriers, optimizing delivery and loading plans, as well as collecting and analyzing data using business intelligence dashboards.

  • Mobile App for Deliverers, for creating tasks and monitoring delivery in real-time, improving customer service, and ensuring transparency through tracking each stage of the delivery process.

  • Mobile App for Clients, for placing orders and tracking delivery status.

The most important features of the solution include real-time GPS tracking of vehicles, automatic generation of optimal routes with regard to load capacities, multiple time windows, cross-docking, and other indicators, as well as inventory management.

We have contributed to the development of proprietary algorithms for solving many logistics problems. For example, to solve a vehicle routing problem, we have created a flexible algorithm that considers more than 30 conditions like weight volume capacities and time windows to create the most efficient transportation plan dynamically. To improve 3D loading and inventory routing, we have devised an algorithm for allocating orders to vehicles, optimizing length, width, and height, as well as visualizing the shipment in a 3D interface. Inventory routing reduces the number of stockouts and helps save distribution cost.

Results

As a result of continuous improvements and performance optimization, the solution enabled clients to create efficient transportation plans, reduce logistics costs, maximize vehicle productivity, and optimize profit in every shipment.

We needed to implement some adjustments to your e-commerce platform that had only basic features.. Their developer began with a study of the open source library landscape to determine what made sense and provide us alternatives. We told them about features we wanted to see in our platform, and they transformed the idea into code without any assistance from us.

Crunch has worked on at least three of our customers’ projects. The team has helped us with backend development on Magento and WooCommerce. At the start of the engagement, we needed to create the technical assignment for our projects. We relied on them a lot for their backend development expertise, and together, we created the assignment which would satisfy both the design and development expectations of our customer. They also provided the project management of the whole development process. The three projects are now finished and delivered to the customer.
