Our engagement with Geeks Ltd began on a positive note, particularly during the initial design workshop, which helped establish the app’s vision and scope. The sprint-based development model was intended to support structured progress and flexibility. However, as the project moved forward, several challenges emerged. Timelines were repeatedly missed, and communication lacked clarity, making it difficult to track progress or anticipate delays. There was also limited transparency around development status, which created uncertainty for internal stakeholders and affected overall confidence in delivery. That said, the working relationship itself was not entirely negative. Internal stakeholders appreciated the professionalism and attitude of the UI designer, who stood out for their collaboration, responsiveness, and quality of work. The challenge

easyJet decided to take the initiative to provide an option to make it easy and quick to make a holiday decision based on loose personal preferences and intuitions as opposed to specific destinations that the customer had already decided upon.

But before embarking on a full-scale implementation easyJet would need a rapid prototype to be developed to test the concept. Although easyJet already employs a large team of developers based in Luton, they wanted an agile, cost-effective and innovative company to get it done in a short timescale.

They approached Geeks to create this prototype.

The solution

Geeks designed and developed an extremely user-friendly, fast and interactive online tool called “Inspire Me” for easyJet to change the game in the online flight booking space.

Using the latest technologies and methods in modern web development, Geeks delivered this solution, powered by Geeks' M# technology and the Microsoft .NET platform. It was integrated with easyJet's existing pricing and booking APIs.

The app is fully mobile-compatible, uses a native iOS application and works across all platforms including tablets and smartphones.

After passing testing, it was then used as the basis of the full-scale implementation by easyJet's in-house team in line with their standard policy.

The impact

By creating this successful proof of concept tool Geeks were able to validate easyJet's idea and pave the way for full implementation of this powerful holiday-choosing solution.

The full "Inspire Me" application is a major part of easyJet's website. easyJet's business model is organised around dynamic strategies to expand its reach and market share in a very competitive sector. "Inspire Me" is a part of its digital strategy of innovation which aims to make travel easy and affordable for customers.

The challenge

While the UK’s departure from the European Union impacts many industries, the customs clearance sector has been significantly affected. On a typical day, the staff at ChannelPorts process c.500 import and export entries. However, this represents just 5% of the total number of shipments coming across the Channel Tunnel. The remaining 95% move freely from the European Union tied by fewer regulations. 

With the end of the transition period fast approaching and the possibility of a no-deal exit, everyone expected dramatic changes in demand. ChannelPorts knew they needed to take action to cope with a projected increase of 3000% from 500 to 15,000 entries to be processed each day, mostly from traders with limited knowledge of the customs process. They recognised the critical role that technology and the automation of their current manual processes could play in facing this challenge, so they searched for an appropriate specialist.

After approaching several potential suppliers, ChannelPorts selected Geeks as the technology partner of choice. Geeks were confident and committed to delivering the solution within their very ambitious timescale of six weeks. The application needed to cope with the significant increase of shipments requiring customs clearance, using electronic filing and automation to expedite the process. With the Brexit deadline looming, rapid development was essential, and since the new regulations were not set in stone, the requirements went through various changes.

The solution

The project kicked off with a series of Solution Design workshops. In these, ChannelPorts explained their business processes and requirements and highlighted several paper-based processes with potential for automation. Geeks then produced a concept and a prototype using our proprietary wireframing software Visual Spec before swiftly moving into development. 

The outcome was CustomsPro, which allows electronic creation and filing of shipments coming into the UK and leaving the country. The software’s user-friendly workflow simplifies the process of customer and invoice management and creating and tracking shipments. The system validates data fields, and rules and logic help staff and clients complete and submit the required documentation quickly and accurately. 

Geeks also developed several APIs that can connect to ChannelPorts’ clients’ existing databases to create shipment records with information stored automatically. 

As the government was still in trade negotiations during development, Geeks needed to be agile to changing regulations and deadlines. CustomsPro was designed to be flexible, a robust software solution that would adapt perfectly to the rapidly changing times.

The challenge

Whilst their products are state of the art, they faced a real challenge of international coordination and managing logistics to keep pace with customer demand. And with an added focus on delivering medical products worldwide in 2020, va-Q-tec engaged Geeks to see what could be changed, and how technology could be applied to increase not only customer service but their global market share.

We knew with all fast-growing businesses, disconnected systems are a challenge. More systems are added to solve specific challenges and most of them don’t talk to each other, making the whole digital ecosystem fractioned. In va-Q-tec example, workflows existed, but there was no connection from warehouse operations through customer service to provide a clear holistic picture. 

The solution

We reviewed every business process, and customer touchpoint, and we found main areas where we could speed up manual processes, reduce admin, and make data easier to access. We created a super scalable, modular solution by designing and engineering a complete digital system.

We automated processes to remove data duplication throughout the estate using microservices approach to serving data. We also enabled improved access to international data, allowing more granular insights to enable smarter decisions. 

Rolled out at first in the UK, then progressed internationally across 40 international locations, Geeks designed and engineered an all-encompassing system. 

The impact

All orders were reviewed via email, agreed upon, and sent to process the full quote, involving multiple emails and internal touchpoints. Now all quotes are instant, through a customer-facing order portal. 

In addition to that, the new system enabled eco-friendly benefits such as returning containers to strategic international positions to minimise carbon footprint and maximise usage, by being there at the right place and right time.

The challenge

Search Acumen regularly engages in strategy sessions with Geeks for a detailed assessment of their day-to-day operations, finding efficiency opportunities through emerging tech like AI, and aiding informed investments.

In a recent review, it became apparent that while many data providers offer direct interfaces, some still send data as email attachments. This forced Search Acumen into inefficient manual processes, causing significant delays—several weeks—in data processing. Initially manageable, this became impractical with their expanding client base, making continual hiring to manage these tasks unsustainable.

The solution

To break through this barrier to growth, Geeks developed a custom Machine Learning model, trained to classify emails into different categories with highly efficient data sorting. “Robbie”, the AI model, extracts and analyses information from attachments and email bodies to link it with the respective order of the client. It determines the category and verifies the information with details about the common local authorities. Robbie the Robot, described by Search Acumen, as the 'Indefatigable Employee', was praised for its accuracy, speed, and capabilities.

Robbie keeps learning and improving and currently handles around 90% of incoming emails by itself with no human assistance.

In the past 12 months, the business received over 65,000 emails, of which only 11% needed manual expert interventions which were immediately flagged by Robbie, and this was to verify minor aspects of information which were fed into Robbie’s learning.

This single change has transformed the email processing system; removing the manual strain of data processing on the team and reducing processing from weeks to completion within minutes. This helped to boost morale and productivity within the organisation as Robbie has freed up time for his human counterparts to contribute to more progressive tasks.

  • The AI agent Instantly reviews and processes ≥95% of incoming emails with no human assistance.

As with many scaling businesses, VPP had developed internal processes organically over time. One of these processes involved a core dataset that was crucial for decision-making across the organisation, yet live access to this dataset was tightly controlled.

Only one senior team member had visibility and edit rights, and every half hour, this person was being pulled into reactive support requests from colleagues across the business.

The issues were twofold:

  • There was a clear operational bottleneck, creating inefficiencies and delays.

  • More critically, there was a growing single point of failure that posed a fundamental risk to resilience and scale.

This challenge wasn’t just about data access; it represented a deeper strain on team productivity, morale, and the founder’s ability to focus on strategy. To continue growing sustainably, VPP needed to remove these constraints quickly and intelligently.

The solution

In addition to maintaining the existing mobile platform, Geeks was engaged to explore a streamlined solution with minimal disruption and fast time-to-value.

We began with a short but focused discovery workshop using our award-winning VisualSpec tool to quickly align on the root problem. Together, we mapped out what information mattered, who needed access, and what format would empower faster decisions without compromising data integrity.

From this, we designed and built a lightweight yet secure internal portal that provided real-time, read-only access to the relevant data for all authorised users across the business. The system integrated cleanly into existing workflows and was up and running within weeks.
