Groove Jones had the extraordinary opportunity to bring Launch Agency’s client, Baylor Scott and White Health’s campaign “Goals Start Here”, to life through an innovative AR experience. The experience is based on a creative concept that features Jake Oettinger, goalie of the Dallas Stars, whose inner voice – his “Motivotter” is used to help inspire fans on their personal health journey.

Through Groove Jones’s design and development, the AR experience places Jake Oettinger as your personal Hype Man, who helps people achieve their goals in real life by showing up in selfie videos or photos that users take.

The Groove Jones team developed a digital double of Oettinger in the form of a mini-AR Jake. Only it isn’t actually Jake: It’s his inner voice, which is named Motivotter, a combination of his nickname “Otter” and “motivation.”

The experience allows users to place Motivotter on any surface, next to anything they’ve achieved or want to achieve. Like eating healthier, working out more, walking their dog—you name it, Motivotter is there celebrating your victories with cheers, back flips, and a variety and dance moves.

Corona has done it again and has produced a 2020 limited-edition sneaker release. The Corona team worked with sneaker designer Jake Danklefs, to create 12 custom pairs of shoes that incorporate branding elements from both Corona and the Texas Longhorns. These were made to celebrate the partnership between the two organizations!

Groove Jones was brought on board to create a web-based AR portal experience that allowed sneakerheads and college fans the chance to win a pair.

Fans entered to win by playing an augmented-reality game found at a select website. The AR experience transported you to a Corona beach with palm trees, ocean sounds, and a bucket of ice-cold Corona’s between two Adirondack chairs. The iconic Corona beach scene.

#FindYourBeach

The objective was to find the octagonal Corona box hiding the custom shoes. Once they found them, the consumers tapped them to open the box and get a sneak peek of the shoes.

Once activated players 21 and up were able to enter for a chance to win a pair of shoes.

The sweepstakes and Augmented Reality experience were promoted at Texas Longhorns home football games and season-long in sports bars in the Austin area. Additional shoes were also shared with national Shoe Influencers, who posted unpacking videos and related images of the kicks.  Reviews and excitement were very positive, delivering a great Year 2 experience!

Henkel Loctite Using VR for Training Employees and Educating Customers for Aftermarket Automotive Repairs

Groove Jones recently helped launch a new VR (Virtual Reality) training tool for Henkel Loctite as part of a Vehicle Repair Training and Application Center. The facility offers hands-on technical application training for automotive aftermarket products and collision repair products, and provide mechanics, collision repair and glass installer technicians with the tools and knowledge to make automotive repairs faster, safer, and more reliable.

The VR experience is a tool gives both employees and their customers the opportunity to work through a variety of use case scenarios. The experience then grades the user on how they performed, providing instant feedback for additional training and insight from a company expert.

VR Training Module

The VR experience tests the user on their knowledge of the unique products to accomplish the following aftermarket automobile repairs.

The experience always begins with instructing the user to put on their safety gear, which includes gloves and goggles before they can begin working on the cars.

The user is then tested on their knowledge of Loctite products to fix a variety of issues that they may face in real life. The experience starts with simple issues and then ramps up in difficulty with issues that take multiple steps to complete.

Below is an overview of the variety of interactions and modules developed for the training SIM.

  1. Cylinder Sleeve – A connecting rod broke causing the piston to score the cylinder wall. The user will bore out the cylinder to accommodate a sleeve of proper dimensions. Once complete, the user must apply the correct product on the sleeve to accommodate for the gap and heat requirements of the engine.
  2. Adjust Rocker Arm – Vehicle operators have heard tapping coming from the rocker arms. The user must retorque and use the proper product to prevent them from loosening in the future.
  3. Fix and Reattach Loose Body Trim – There is a piece of the bumper lip that has cracked. It is made out of carbon fiber, so the user must repair the damage using a product to fill in the gap and then reattach it to the vehicle.
  4. Fix Oil Leak Around Oil Pan – There is an oil leak coming from the pan. The user must drop the pan, clean away the remaining gasket, and apply to the circumference.
  5. Fix Leaking Break Lines Due to Corrosion and Replace with New Brake Line – A repair is needed as a result of a leaking brake line due to corrosion. This must be replaced. The user must find apply the correct product and properly seal all fittings on the new brake line to prevent future leaks.
  6. Replace Muffler – It appears the bolts on the exhaust coupling have rusted and cannot be removed by standard measures. Before the repair can be completed, the user must use Freeze and Release to loosen the bolts for removal. Since the previous installation of the bolts failed to use a lubricant to protect the assembly from rusting, the user must use the proper product to prevent this in the future before reattaching.

Products Used in the Experience

  • General purpose threadlocker of medium bond strength. This threadlocker secures and seal bolts, nuts, and studs to prevent loosening due to vibration. The product works on all metals, including passive substrates such as stainless steel, aluminum and plated surfaces.
  • Dual cure, acrylic dimethacrylate ester fluorescent threadlocker designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners.
  • Flexible, gasketing material for use on rigid machined flanges
  • High strength and high temperature resistant retaining compound.
  • Very high strength fast cure retaining compound that is a high strength, high viscosity room temperature curing adhesive used to join fitted cylindrical parts.
  • Cyanoacrylate adhesive is compatible with leather, paper, plastic, rubber and wood material
  • Hhybrid ultra-fast adhesive is a two-component versatile instant adhesive that bonds together plastics, rubbers, and metals.
  • Silicone sealant and cures on exposure to moisture in the air to form a tough rubber gasket.
  • Anti-Seize Lubricant that is a heavy-duty, temperature-resistant, petroleum-based compound fortified with graphite and metallic flake.

About the Facility

The 2100 sq. ft customer facility is one of Henkel’s 11 Vehicle Repair Training & Application Centers around the world, that brings together best-in-class technical training with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative environment

AT&T has numerous development programs they use for recruitment purposes. In order to showcase and inform potential candidates about these programs, AT&T has created videos to tell each story. Groove Jones has been working with the AT&T College Recruiting team on the creation of several videos, which have been developed for VR (virtual reality) and shot in 360º.

The AT&T College Recruiting team uses these 360º videos at events around the US: career fairs, information sessions, and other campus recruitment events.

They wanted to create a VR application to combine these videos into a single virtual theater allowing students to interact with and view the content that most interests them.

Content is also accessible via the web so users can view online via a desktop or mobile device.

The AT&T VR HUB

The AT&T College Recruitment VR App serves as a hub to all of the rich video content that has been created. The individual video experiences can be launched via various controls within an AT&T branded world.

Included in the VR application are multiple 360º videos shot by Groove Jones featuring “Day in the Life” experiences at various locations within AT&T.

The experience helps the viewer see what life is like working at AT&T and allows them to step into the different locations and meet some of the people that work there.

We also incorporated several existing 2D videos including the Leadership Development Program, the Finance Leadership Development Program & locational videos for the Technology Development Program. These 2D videos help highlight the culture of working at AT&T with key messaging from teams around the country.

Taking design cues from the new Discovery District at the AT&T headquarters in downtown Dallas, Groove Jones designed an interactive video hub environment for users to explore and watch videos.

In this super futuristic hub environment, users can select one of the many videos to play simply by gazing at the play icon. Included in the environment are some “Easter egg” interactive elements that display AT&T’s 8 value pillars.

AT&T Locations Map

Inside the Technology Development Program, the experience is an interactive map of all the hub locations candidates can be placed. By looking at a location the viewer can launch videos from that location.

Each local team created a video to highlight their unique culture and work environment.

The program was created with AT&T University – https://www.att.jobs.

Review Summary

We were extremely pleased with our experience with Groove Jones. We wanted to explore a new technology that enhances our user experience while complementing our current environment and can be used via multiple channels. In less than 90 days, Groove Jones delivered all of that with an engaging, interactive site that is visually stunning and a true wow factor. During the process, the team was very communicative, quick on any changes and also brought their own ideas to the table. We love the quality of the final product and would definitely recommend Groove Jones.

Review Summary

I was looking to develop unique software for a particular research project. The team members at Groove Jones were inquisitive about my idea, sought to learn more, and from that, we developed a plan to meet my needs. At the very start, I received a detailed plan for the development timeline. Throughout the development process, my team and the team at Groove Jones were in continuous contact, had regular and ad hoc meetings, and communicated through direct message interface as needed. This allowed the work to be completed extremely professionally and efficiently, within the agreed upon timeframe. The team at Groove Jones was always receptive to our feedback, our requests for modifications, and added their own creativity to enhance our vision. We were very happy with the process and extremely satisfied with the quality and capabilities of the final product.

Review Summary

I chose GJ for my VR development project because I felt they would deliver a VR experience for my customers that would be meaningful in content, rich in aesthetic, and that would build our brand. From the very first creative meeting I knew I had made a great choice. The partners at GJ represent a wide breath of expertise and all share a high level of integrity that drives them to over-deliver for their clients. After months of hard work in which they went above and beyond the call of duty, they delivered a fantastic VR experience that exceeded expectations. If I had it all to do over again, I would chose GJ. In fact, we are now deciding on what to do together next...

Groove Jones went above and beyond the scope of work and contract. I believe that their work will change the automotive industry's 100 year retail paradigm. The Groove Jones team delivered an innovative and high-quality visually "stunning" product. They work rapidly, meeting changing deadlines while still going outside of the box to bring experimental ideas to their clients.

VR App Dev for Medical Client

This was an important assignment for us so getting the right partner to augment our abilities was imperative. Things couldn't have gone better. Our VR experience on behalf of the client at a critical tradeshow for them drew nearly 2000 people into the exhibit and compelled them to explore other parts of it as well. Groove Jones’ philosophy of transparency and collaboration as well as their deep level of engagement regardless of the size of the client makes them stand out in the industry. They are highly communicative and bring a sense of confidence in all aspects — deadline, budget, outcome.
