Impressit Executive Interview

Roman Zomko

Co-Founder & CEO

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
Impressit is a boutique product development studio specializing in creating WEB 3.0 solutions. We help SMEs in the US, the UK, and the EU launch next-generation web and mobile products powered by cutting-edge technologies. This is possible due to our full-stack team that includes experienced product managers, designers, and engineers, each with nearly a decade of experience.

The key to our success is the extraordinary team that we’ve grown at Impressit and its “do great or do nothing” culture. As the CEO, I see my primary responsibility to grow our company while ensuring that every new employee we hire shares our fundamental values and will seamlessly complement the team.
What is the story behind starting this company?
Impressit journey started in early 2018. "I'm impressed!" — was the feedback of our first client when Andrew Lekh, my co-founder and Impressit CTO, and I presented a prototype of their product just days after receiving the inquiry. That's how the name “Impressit” was born, and since then, our mission has been to hear the same feedback from every single individual working with Impressit.

The main principle that united Andrew and me is the exact same principle that makes the Impressit team cohesive — we strive for the best results in everything we do and refuse to settle down with mediocrity.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
The Impressit team is entirely in-house. Our HQ is based in Lviv — Ukraine’s 2nd largest tech hub. We’re planning to expand globally with representative offices in the UK and the US in the near future.

Our team follows a hybrid working model — a combination of office and remote work styles. While we don’t have any strict requirements for office hours, we encourage our teammates to come to the office occasionally. So they can meet their teammates, attend in-person project meetings, and socialize during coffee breaks and pizza evenings.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
One of the reasons Andrew and I started Impressit was that we realized that the market is heavily focused on dry numbers. Most of the companies are obsessed with growing in size. And even though some quantitative metrics, like company profit amount and margin, are important for us too, what really matters to us are the qualitative metrics, like the satisfaction of our team members and customers, the strength of our brand, reputation, and experience that we deliver to everyone who interacts with Impressit.

This is what differentiates the Impressit team from any other software company. Our dynamic, cohesive team of experts in cutting-edge technologies is committed to delivering WOW products to global brands.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
Here at Impressit, we specialize in next-generation WEB 3.0 technologies. This includes data engineering, machine learning, and a number of blockchain technologies.

We don’t necessarily focus on specific business domains. In the end, whether you work on a fintech startup or building a healthcare solution, you’re still creating software. Still, over the past years, our team has worked on software solutions for telecom, fintech, proptech, retail, healthcare, and business automation.

The nature of the service we provide to our customers is long-term. Thus, it’s usual that our relationships last for many years. Our largest client has been working with us since 2019, and we have never had a client left unsatisfied with their experience yet.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
We offer a wide range of services: web & mobile development, UX/UI design, product discovery & planning, and DevOps services. Our team is ready to create the product from scratch and step in at any stage of the software development life cycle.

So far, most of our clients are approaching us for web and mobile development. However, we are also willing to help them with design and DevOps matters, even if this was not initially planned.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
As I previously mentioned, no client has ever been dissatisfied with our services, and we are determined to keep it this way. Our clients’ satisfaction means a lot to us, so we are trying to review our work as detailed as possible. At the moment, we have the best feedback both from our past and current customers.

We’re treating our customers’ businesses like our own. This means we give each project 100%. We are ready to share our knowledge, support, and consult the clients every step of the way and on both business and tech matters. Although we usually have a clear work plan and stick to it, we are flexible and ready to change.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
First of all, we follow Agile methodology to ensure the successful delivery of every project. This way, the client and the Impressit team continuously communicate, exchange feedback, and adjust the project roadmap when needed. Therefore, in case of any changes in business priorities or significant technical challenges, both the client and the team effectively cooperate and react to changed requirements promptly.

For every project, we configure a task management system e.g. Jira and a dedicated communication platform e.g. Slack.

In addition, our Delivery Manager is a person who coordinates the cooperation between our team and the Client and is able to handle requests in a timely manner.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We bill our clients using two main payment models: fixed-cost and daily rate.
We usually use a fixed-cost cooperation model for smaller projects with a scope of work that would take up to three months. And if the long-term project is envisaged or it is a team augmentation contract, then we bill on a daily rate basis.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Impressit doesn’t have a strict minimum project budget requirement. As long as we have a good match of values with the Client, see potential in their product, and the project scope is reasonable to the budget, we are happy to take on such opportunities.

I witnessed many startups starting small and growing into large-scale businesses with Impressit being their trusted product development partner.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021?
Most of our contracts are long-term and don’t have a value cap. Still, in 2021 the approximate contract value varied from $15,000 to $500,000 USD.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
Regarding the future, our goal is to become the leading company that specializes in WEB 3.0 technologies. We are striving to bring change and innovation to global businesses and help promising startups bloom and conquer the market.

On the other hand, despite really seeing Impressit as the leader on the market in 10 years, we do not set growth in scale as our primary focus. Our goal is to keep our team close-knit and cohesive. Impressit will always be the company that unites only the best experts and keeps the team spirit alive.

When the war in Ukraine escalated, I assumed that Impressit would have a hard time meeting their commitments, but they doubled down to ensure they helped our company reach each of our goals.
