Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
In Motion Marketing helps B2Bs update their marketing strategy to match how their buyers want to do business. As the Head of Marketing, I help clients design and execute their new strategies and work closely with them to fine-tune them along the way.
What is the story behind starting this company?
My wife (Michelle Philips) and I began this business together at the beginning of the pandemic. We saw a shift in how businesses were operating (the move towards remote and adopting fractional/virtual CXOs) and took the opportunity to help businesses re-think their marketing strategies.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
As a bootstrap startup ourselves, we use a blend of in-house very specific third-party vendors to run the business and delivery content to our clients.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
We are obsessed with aligning People + Process + Technology. This means we have the capability to execute a strategy a lot faster than bigger agencies. Giving our customers more value in a shorter amount of time.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We predominantly work with B2Bs in the technology industry. This covers software vendors and professional services (that cater to tech companies). Yes, 40% of our clientele are the founding customers. 90% of business is through our retainer model.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
As a full-service digital marketing agency, we help with:
- Messaging: Clearly communicate how your product/service provides value. e.g. StoryBrand Framework.
- Capturing Demand: Aligning sales & marketing to generate leads from channels with a high ROI. e.g. SEO, CRO, Email, and Paid Search.
- Demand Generation: Content creation to help buyers discover brands/products that add value while they’re online. e.g. Social Media, Podcasts, Audiograms, Videos, and Infographics.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
Very-Satisfied. The key to maintaining a high level of satisfaction is open communication, setting the right expectations, and delivering on the promises made.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
We provide 1:1 contacts and use direct messaging channels like Slack to keep in touch. Regular meetings to talk face-to-face and refine our work. We also use tools like Asana to manage projects and track priorities.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We operate on a monthly retainer and the cost fluctuates depending on the services required from In Motion Marketing. It’s very bespoke and is based on how much value our services provide clients.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We take on “passion projects” where there is an opportunity to form a mutually beneficial relationship.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021?
$1,500 - $10,000 (monthly retainer).
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
Create a community of marketers + businesses that are benefiting from our processes and best practices.
