Please provide your feedback on how GoodFirms has contributed to increasing your visibility among potential clients.
During the first five years of establishing Latitude Space Africa and developing our website, we struggled to make it anywhere near the first page of Google search results. However, after completing training in digital marketing, I recognized the critical role of search engine optimization. Despite not yet achieving a top Google ranking, our presence on platforms like GoodFirms.co began to generate inquiries from international organizations that discovered us there. Being featured on GoodFirms allowed Latitude Space Africa, a young company, to compete alongside industry giants and significantly boost our visibility.
Please introduce your company and describe your role within the organization.
Latitude Space Africa is a leading digital film, television, and video production company dedicated to meeting the ongoing demand for high-quality video content within budget constraints. As a comprehensive service provider, we excel in developing and producing top-notch video content. Our approach prioritizes cost-effectiveness while upholding the highest standards of quality and creativity. This allows us to deliver compelling content that drives engagement and action consistently. At the helm is Toba Oduwaiye, a seasoned cinematographer, producer, and editor with a distinguished career spanning 18 years in Nigeria and nine other countries.
What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
While studying film production at Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, I faced a pivotal moment during the school holiday of my first year. Eager to gain real-world experience, I approached several film production companies, offering my services. Unfortunately, my efforts were met with rejection—even to the point of being escorted out by security. Undeterred, I decided that if no one else would take a chance on me, I would take a chance on myself. This determination led me to co-found Faithworks Productions with two classmates in 2007. The challenges and lessons from those early days were instrumental in shaping my vision, ultimately inspiring me to establish Latitude Space Africa in 2015.
What are the core values and principles that drive your company's culture, and how do you ensure alignment with these values across your team?
Our core value is unwavering customer satisfaction. Our mission is to ensure that every client is genuinely pleased with their purchase. Personally, I understand the frustration of buyer's remorse—I always want to feel confident and satisfied with anything I buy. That’s why we’re committed to delivering a service that our clients can trust and take pride in, without ever feeling like they’ve wasted their money. Our team is dedicated to providing value, and we’d rather reduce our profit than compromise on the quality and satisfaction our clients deserve.
Can you highlight some of the key achievements or milestones your company has accomplished since its inception?
In 2015, we launched our journey in corporate video production, and by the following year, we had already secured projects with prominent organizations like Deloitte and CardinalStone Partners. Our momentum continued to build, and by 2019, we had the privilege of producing our first documentary for Christian Aid Nigeria, a globally recognized non-profit. Since then, we’ve expanded our portfolio, collaborating with esteemed clients such as the United Nations, Bloomberg, Infinix Mobile, and numerous other international organizations.
Could you explain your company's business model? Do you primarily operate with an in-house team or utilize third-party vendors/outsourcing?
We collaborate with seasoned freelance video professionals based in Lagos and Abuja. Over the past 15 years, we've carefully built a team of trusted and proven creatives within our network.
How does your company differentiate itself from competitors in the industry?
A satisfied client is the foundation of our business. We never compromise on delivering top-quality service, ensuring that every client feels confident in recommending us to others.
How would you describe the dynamics within your team, and how do you foster collaboration and teamwork to achieve common goals?
We consider ourselves associates, not a company of bosses and staff. We're friends first, colleagues second.
What measures do you take to support the professional development and growth of your employees? Do you offer training programs or opportunities for skill enhancement?
We actively share valuable insights and knowledge to help each other thrive in the industry. Our team members have the creative freedom to use behind-the-scenes content from our shoots to promote themselves on social media—we fully support their self-promotion. Additionally, freelancers often seek my advice and request resources, such as sample proposals, to help them market their skills and secure new projects.
Could you share a notable success story or case study that exemplifies the impact your company has had on a client's business?
One of our longstanding clients, Cardinal Stone Capital Advisers, recently tasked us with creating a series of videos for an international investment event. Despite the tight timeline, we successfully delivered the project. The client was pleased with the results, noting that the videos received strong positive engagement from potential investors and effectively achieved their goals.
What industries do you primarily cater to, and do you have a significant percentage of repeat clients? If so, what is the ratio of repeat clients?
Our main focus is serving international non-profit organizations, with notable repeat clients such as Christian Aid and Gavi. Approximately 20% of our clients return for additional services, which is significant given the nature of this industry, where repeat business is less common.
What initiatives does your company undertake to foster innovation and stay at the forefront of industry trends? Do you invest in research and development projects?
As the CEO and lead creative, I actively keep up with evolving technologies and make sure to share these insights with our team. We are constantly exploring new tools and methods to enhance our efficiency. For instance, we use battery-powered and lightweight equipment to streamline our run-and-gun filming approach.
Please share some of the most sought-after services that clients approach your company for.
While many Nigerian videographers excel in music videos, films, and dramas, few have mastered the art of storytelling through factual content. This is where we truly stand out. Our exceptional ability to capture and convey authentic stories has garnered significant interest from international clients seeking to film in Nigeria.
How do you build and maintain strong relationships with your clients, and what mechanisms do you have in place for gathering and acting upon client feedback?
We prioritize building genuine relationships over mere transactions. By fostering friendships with our clients and maintaining strong, ongoing connections, we demonstrate our commitment to their needs. Our flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile are key to developing these lasting bonds.
How has your company adapted to changes and challenges in the business landscape, and what strategies have you employed to ensure resilience and sustainability?
The emergence of new and affordable technology has been a significant advantage for us. We now have access to cost-effective equipment that efficiently meets our needs. Additionally, we prioritize our marketing efforts to maximize our reach and impact.
What payment structure do you typically follow when billing clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone (phases, months, versions, etc.)?
Our billing structure generally follows a milestone-based approach. Clients often pay a percentage upfront before the project begins, with subsequent payments tied to key milestones. For example, clients might pay a portion when we deliver the initial draft and settle the remaining balance upon project completion.
Do you accept projects that meet your basic budget requirements? If yes, what is the minimum budget requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked with in the past?
We strive to accommodate our clients' budgets whenever possible. For those whose budgets fall below our minimum threshold, we’re happy to refer them to a qualified freelance videographer who can meet their needs. If they’re interested in our recommendations, we facilitate the introduction to the freelancer.
Can you provide an overview of the price range (minimum and maximum) of the projects your company worked on in 2023?
Our video service ranges in 2023 from $100 for a simple video edit to $11,000 for a documentary.
What technological capabilities does your company possess, and are there any ongoing or planned investments in technology infrastructure or tools to enhance your services?
Our future plans focus on developing more effective systems and structures to enhance our company's operations.
Where do you envision your company in the next 10 years? What are your long-term goals and aspirations for growth and development?
In the next decade, we aim to grow our company to employ over 50 talented professionals, serve a diverse range of clients, make significant investments in feature films, and own our TV studio.
