Designing the Website for Watchmen Security

Our web design agency was excited to work with Watchmen Security to design a new brand and website that showcases their dedication to excellent security services.

Watchmen Security is a local security company in Kansas City that specializes in home and commercial security systems with a particular emphasis on using the latest technology to offer a service head and shoulders above their competition. With that emphasis, it made sense to have a cutting edge brand and website to show it off with. That’s where our Kansas City web design team stepped up to drive it home.

The first part of the brand our website design team tackled was the logo. We went with the classic badge shape for its timeless characteristics of projecting safety and security. Along those same lines we sprung for a bright, modern blue to reinforce the security identity while looking clean and modern.

In regards to the website, our web developers strategized with Watchmen Security to identify their key target demographics in Kansas City. We determined that they had two key targets in the residential and commercial markets so we designed the website around guiding users to either of those two selling points. Additionally, Watchmen Security receives most of their new business from quote requests so we aligned with that strategy by adding quote request forms to the homepage and key landing pages.

Our web design and development teams were very pleased with how the Watchmen Security branding and website turned out. We think they excellently project the quality and consistent service that they provide to Kansas City and we are looking forward to seeing how their new website lets them reach new heights in their business.

Education

Our web design and devleopment agency helped the Linux Academy establish its brand and create a much more effective user interface and user experience for the front-end of their online learning platform.

The Linux Academy was looking for a redesign that felt fresh, modern, and above all: simple. Their previous designs suffered from an overall busyness, a drab color scheme, and out of date layouts. Our web design team was able to come in and revitalize their design to really show off the high-quality training they provided and present it in an easy-to-digest manner.

Starting with the logo, the design team kept the same spirit and concept as the original but refined it to be more balanced and function properly at smaller sizes. For the color and typography, we wanted to project a very approachable personality and ultra minimal style to really highlight the learning content and make it as easy to understand as possible. We chose a vibrant color scheme that leant itself to cooler colors that felt fun but still professional. We balanced the colors with a headline typeface with rounded letterforms to reinforce the approachability mindset and paired it with a professional, highly legible sans serif for the body content for ease of reading.

When it came to web development and designing the user interface, our primary goals were to highlight the training program features and to direct users to start a free trial. We centered the entire design around these two goals and were able to streamline the entire site into a laser-focused user flow that highlighted key selling points and made navigating the site intuitive.

Fountain City Studios is a local Kansas City photography studio that really takes pride in their city. They’ve been a staple in the Kansas City photography scene for years and have only been growing and adding to their team. Fountain City now offers a full array of photography, videography and audio production. Our web design and development agency was very excited to be able to build a user experience that showcases all of Fountain City’s great work and calls for the user to connect with them even more.

When Fountain City Studios needed to redesign their website, we knew that we wanted to build a site structured around their immersive photography. We created an experience that showcased their video and photography throughout the site and not just on a gallery page.

Our web design team started this project by highlighting the two main target audiences which are portrait and commercial photography. We then created individual landing pages for each audience which feature photography for each prospective audience and lead them to a prominent call to action. We then gave their branding a facelift and shifted their color palette and typography to better fit the high quality work they produce.

We are very pleased with the way the website came together and really shows off the great work Fountain City Studios creates. Our Kansas City web design agency understand that when it comes to photography, it’s important to let the work speak for itself, and to design a site that allows for an immersive experience.

The Nibble Nook is a local Kansas City baking and learning center for kids and adults. When the head pastry chef decided to open the first location, he came to our web design agency Light Up the Dark for the branding and identity of his new business.

The Nibble Nook has a lot of potential and vision that our web design agency really appreciates and supports. We are dedicated as a team to the culture and growth of Kansas City and we’re proud to stand behind such a great business.

Forming The Logo

After our web designers did some market research, we began designing the logo and decided it would be imperative to create a logo that wasmulti-faceted. The logo would be used in a multitude of different applications including embroidery, baking stencils, product packaging, screen printing, decals, and much more. We accomplished this by creating a logo that could be used as individual pieces or all together as one.

Our Design Process

The initial target audience was children, but our Kansas City web design team quickly realized that would eventually grow to accommodate all age groups. Because of this, we needed to design a logo and brand that would be fun and inviting to children but also sophisticated enough to be taken seriously by other age groups. One way we accomplished this was by choosing a neutral primary color palette and using brighter accent colors to identify materials for different age groups.

Overview

The brand was immediately successful and began to gain a loyal following around Kansas City. Through hard work and strategy, The Nibble Nook quickly became a successful business and a really fun place for kids to learn essential baking skills. And we are happy to have had the opportunity to contribute to such a great business.

Since then, it has achieved that goal every year and has developed a strong community and ministry platform that reaches people globally on a daily basis. When the Kansas City Zoo wanted to update their brand, they turned to Light Up the Dark. We created a new logo and brand standards that brought more adventure and life to the Zoo’s identity.

The Kansas City Zoo has been a staple of Kansas City tourism for many years with extensive exhibits prominently featuring African and Australian animals. In 2008, the Kansas City Zoo was voted one of America’s best zoos. We were proud to be approached with redesigning their website and giving their brand a facelift.

Our Kansas City web design team determined that the Kansas City Zoo had two primary needs. First, they needed to refresh and unify their visual identity. Their brand lacked cohesion across their website, marketing materials, park signage, and printed assets. Secondly, they needed a dramatic update to their website which lacked mobile accessibility, intuitive interfaces, and effective tools for their teams to properly display content and manage the website.
