Michelle C. Herting

Michelle graduated from UC Riverside with a double major in business and economics. She completed extensive upper division and graduate work in taxation, auditing and accounting at UCLA and Cal State San Bernardino. Michelle was the corporate tax manager for one of the largest business consulting firms in California. There, she and her staff prepared over 150 corporate and over 850 individual returns annually. Over the years, she has represented over one hundred taxpayers before the IRS.

Ms. Herting managed her first trust in 1999, when one of her clients asked her to serve. This ignited her passion for trust administration. Subsequently, Ms. Herting completed several years of advanced training in trust and estate administration, business valuation and tax planning through the California CPA Education Foundation and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Remaining current in her field is extremely important to her; she consistently logs over 200 hours of continuing education coursework annually.

Michelle also holds The Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designation. It is a graduate level specialization in estate planning. It is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) to estate planning professionals who meet stringent requirements of experience, knowledge, education professional reputation, and character.

Michelle is one of the few in the area to have passed the prestigious and challenging exam for the ABV (Accreditation in Business Valuation) given by the AICPA and hopes to have completed the license by the end of this year.

In line with her belief in the critical value of education and her commitment to the community, Ms. Herting has served on several boards at UC Riverside and lectures at classes and seminars on trust administration and tax planning issues.
