The QATestLab team has provided software testing services for a popular online footwear store on all major browsers and on a large number of devices.

The client added many new payment systems to the functionality of their online store. The integration of these systems was not quite successful, resulting in losses.

Our task was to carry out large-scale testing of all available payment systems.

Another problem the client faced was the incorrect price of goods on the website.

We had to thoroughly test the catalog of products, filters, and systems for creating promotions and discounts to identify bugs.

Activities executed:

  • Manual testing, Payments testing, Mobile testing, Cross-browser testing, Functional testing, UI/UX testing.

  • Creating and executing test cases, test-plan creation, checklist development.

  • Bug tracking, reporting, and further processing of bugs, defect Tracking, and Management.

  1. Increased the volume of sales of goods by 23% due to new payment systems.

  2. Improved website performance on mobile devices.

  3. Developed high-quality test documentation.

An e-commerce shop, a successful online retailer, embarked on a strategic journey to enhance its operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The catalyst for this transformation was the decision to transition from the Magento Content Management System (CMS) to the BigCommerce platform.

  • Reducing operational costs by migrating to BigCommerce, recognizing the platform's cost-effective pricing structure.

  • Minimizing downtime during the migration process to prevent any disruption to the online shopping experience for customers.

  • Resolving potential risks such as data inconsistencies, broken functionalities, and compatibility issues.

We began with a full-time engagement, but our team's adaptability allowed us to transition to a flexible monthly arrangement to meet the evolving needs of the project

Our team initiated iterative testing sessions to identify and address potential issues early in the migration process, allowing for proactive problem-solving. Also, we employed a comprehensive array of testing types, including data migration testing, functional testing, compatibility testing, and performance testing.

In addition to rigorously testing the customer-facing elements, our QA experts emphasized thoroughly evaluating the admin panel. This involved meticulous scrutiny of the functionalities, workflows, and data interactions within the admin interface to ensure seamless management and control over the online store.

  • Verifying that all features within the admin panel, including product management and order processing, are performed flawlessly.

  • Ensuring that changes made within the admin panel were accurately reflected on the front end.

  • Validating the integrity of data transferred from Magento to BigCommerce, ensuring no loss during the migration.

  • Performing extensive cross-browser and device compatibility testing to guarantee a consistent and user-friendly experience across various platforms.

  • Ensuring the new platform could seamlessly handle increased loads and deliver optimal response times.

  • Data integrity assurance was maintained at an astounding 99.9% via the migration process.

  • Reliable e-commerce functionalities resulted in a 15% increase in sales during peak traffic periods.

  • Cross-platform compatibility with a 30% rise in overall website traffic.

  • A consistent and user-friendly experience with an 87% customer satisfaction rating

  • A collectible card game (CCG) set in World War II that combines traditional CCG gameplay with innovative mechanics inspired by classic strategy games.

  • A completely free-to-play game, available for both PC and mobile devices.

  • An innovative game blends the traditional card game experience with the new core mechanism “frontline” that provides new tactical diversity.

The client has asked for our assistance in identifying potential factors contributing to player dropouts and providing actionable recommendations to enhance player engagement.

Recognizing that checklist playtesting wouldn't fully identify reasons for player drop-off, we divided our QA team into two groups of 3-4 testers who have never heard or played the game..

Group 1: Followed a predetermined test plan, evaluating specific aspects of the game.

Group 2: Tested freely, aiming to imitate new player behavior.

1. We measured the average playtime before players leave the game, finding it to be around 4 hours.

2. Analyzed project documentation to develop a comprehensive test plan for our QA engineers.

3. By monitoring player reviews and discussions through the official Discord channel, we found the major pain points and areas for improvement.

4. We focused our testing efforts on onboarding experiences, including the tutorial, campaign missions, reward systems, account setup, and initial PvP battles.

5. To gather deeper insights into the testing experience, we created a targeted survey for participants. The survey's results were visualized in charts.

6. In our lab, we thoroughly tested the game across various devices, including PCs, iPhones, and Android phones.

  • The game studio received the test documentation with evaluations of the project's strengths and weaknesses.

  • Based on the testing results, we suggested focusing on the improvements of tutorial hints. The CCG genre presents inherent complexity, so clear and concise guidance early on is crucial for player retention.

  • Following our analysis, the client has implemented the recommendations and formed a dedicated team focused on onboarding first, then tutorial improvement and streamlining.

  • We created a chart evaluating the core elements of the game, such as the tutorial, starter campaign, etc. This visualization helped to gain a clear understanding of the overall player experience and pain points.
