Development Services for Mycotoxin Research Company
My name is Andrii Karpiuk, I am the founder of BIOsens company, and we are working in the food testing business. Our mission is to give, for all of us, confidence that we eat safe food. For that, we provide abilities for farmers, traders & food processing companies to make accurate and simple on-site testing in less than half an hour instead of weeks. We provide a device for food testing & a web service for analytics to predict mycotoxin contamination.
BACKGROUND
Our company started cooperating with sA.design to develop all our products - mobile application, web service, and menu for a portable device. Initially, we planned to develop only a mobile application to start testing our system. Our service is growing rapidly, and therefore we had a request for web service design and a menu for a portable device. The result is ready-made designs of all products that are continually improving and updating.
SOLUTION
Our field of activity is quite narrowly specialized, and that is why we were looking for designers with experience designing agricultural digital products. One of the main tasks was to make complex data simple and clear to the general public. So we were looking for designers with whom we would not have to overcome the expert and language barrier.
An employee with our device goes to the field or grain elevator, where he takes a sample for research and puts it in our portable device. He runs the test either from the device or using a mobile application. Upon completing the test, the results are sent to the cloud storage and transmitted to our web service. In our web service, customers can see various analytical information and predict the spread of mycotoxins.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Developing projects like ours from scratch will find it difficult to follow Agile development rules because hypotheses and new ideas arise every day. Also, there is simply no time to write documentation. We needed people who could read between the lines, ask the right questions, respond quickly to our requests, and create a holistic product.
We were most impressed by the work process organization, constant feedback, the exact implementation of tasks, and friendly communication.
Our cooperation has shown that it is not easy to achieve an exact iteration in development at the startup stage. It can be improved if we collect requirements and better manage time. However, based on our realities, we are 100% satisfied with the cooperation.
