Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
SysGears specializes in creating web applications, web services, and mobile apps with Java / Scala and JavaScript / TypeScript technology stacks. We provide our clients with a flexible development team with skills that will satisfy project needs at all development stages.
Currently, we have two main tech departments:
- JavaScript developers who specialize in creating web and mobile applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, React Native, Express, Node.js, Apollo, and GraphQL
- JVM developers who work with Java and Scala, have Angular and React experience, and create scalable, fault-tolerant, microservice-based web services, and back-ends.
SysGears team also includes BA, UI and UX designers, DevOps, QA manual and automation engineers and project managers, so we can provide our clients with full-cycle development services, starting from working with requirements and designs to the final project deployment.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The idea of creating an IT service company popped up in my mind when I saw what products could be created by using emerging technologies hand in hand with great ideas. Still, these projects would be stuck with growing because of a simple lack of people who knows how to build successful products from the tech side— Built by developers SysGears knows how to support our client's ideas.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
SysGears uses only in-house resources. On top of that, any developer, who joins our team passes through the 1-3 months onboarding process on our Open Source solution AUSK (https://apollokit.org/) hand in hand with me(Founder of SysGears, the developer with 23 years of experience). Using this model allows us to do two things: ensuring we assign to the commercial projects just the highest level of developers and contribute to the world the ready to use modules to start up any business easily.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
SysGears takes care of all sides of the client`s business, so on top of the core development services, we provide every client with free of charge Marketing consultation to automize the marketing activities and free of charge hiring process directly for their needs.
On the tech side, SysGears provides our clients with a wide "choice" of ready-made tech solutions to their product. Our open-source AUSK has a set of premade modules:
- authentification & authorization
- pagination
- posts & comments
- state management
- Stripe subscription
- upload & download
- mobile chat
- integrated UI libraries
- contact us form
These modules help us reduce the time-to-market and the cost of development.
Also, SysGears has a great experience working with VC startups and its Tech Advisors, so we can provide our clients with our strong Business Analysis of their product and help to launch MVP, which will be highly competitive on the market. On top of that, we offer the referral program for Tech advisers: (https://sysgears.com/tech-advisor/)

Due to our strong skills and experience in Big Data and Machine Learning (SMACK stack), SysGears caters industries that are in need of using such tech possibilities.
- Healthcare - Our projects in the Healthcare domain are about analytics systems for medicine purposes, the platform for managing medication orders between healthcare institutions and pharmacies, and the full ecosystem for patients and clinics. Also, the team works for the project with the core idea of X-ray recognition, analyzing and double-checking a doctor's diagnosis.
- Marketing - For our clients from the marketing domain, SysGears delivers high-load platforms, which do mass sending, analytics, real-time alerts.

Taking into consideration that 90% of our clients have scalable products, we have longterm relations with them. Also, due to the Quality of our services, 70% of our clients recommend us to other companies in their domain.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
Next 4 parameters are prevalent in determining the time frames of developing a web app:
- Client`s requirements (feature list, tech-stack, expected time limits, development`s methodology)
- Team resources (number of developers, their skills, availability of Project Manager, QA Engineers, Business Analyst, UI/UX Designer)
- Client`s budget (it directly affects the number of specialists and their skills)
- The last but the most important: the project itself. Every product owner has in ming his goal: sometimes it's speed - so we need to involve more resources or sacrifice the quality; sometimes it's required to build a high-quality product, so we involve the most powerful resources, get the certification required, etc.. Based on every particular business, it's the stage, limits, goals with choosing the custom approach, that deliver the most valuable result.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
It depends on the previously mentioned key parameters of the project.
Let`s consider the next case:
You need to develop an MVP for your startup.
You need to develop an MVP for your startup.
It takes about 3-6 months with the next team:
- Project Manager/Business Analyst, part-time availability;
- UX/UI designer, part-time av.;
- FullStack developer, fulltime av.;
OR
- Front end developer, fulltime av.;
- Backend developer, fulltime av.;
- QA engineer, part-time av.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
- Security
- Load
- Amount of realtime sessions
- Processing speed
- User Interface
- Market
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in the development of your web apps?
Taking into consideration our tech expertise in developing high-load platforms, microservices, and Big Data projects, SysGears prefer to use:
- for client-side: HTML, CSS, CSS3 and Javascript, TypeScript (ReactJS, Angular, Node.js, Redux, GraphQL, Express, Apollo)
- for server-side: Java and Scala, and SMACK for Big Data.

Do you provide website maintenance services?
Sure, we provide our clients with website maintenance services on an hourly per rate basics after the project`s release. Such type of approach helps them to administrate their budget for team resources wisely.
In general, after finishing the project, we always try to be close to our clients as well as to be sure that`s everything all right with their project.
In general, after finishing the project, we always try to be close to our clients as well as to be sure that`s everything all right with their project.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a web application?
The main factors for deciding the cost of our services are:
1) Statement of Work (SOW)
We`re always ready to take into consideration the client`s requirements and expectations about the time of development and his budget, feature-based list.
2) The seniority level of the team that is planned to be involved.
Due to our experience in effective Project Management, we know how to allocate all tasks to team resources properly, and it helps to make software development cost-effective.
Our PM allocates all tasks between high-skilled and medium-skilled engineers and assigns decisions of software architecture to our Solution Architect engineers or Tech Leads.
3) An ability to use readymade solutions
During Business Analysis of the client`s project, our BA and Tech Lead analyze an ability to use our ready-made solutions for such a project.
It helps to reduce the time of development and save the client`s budget.
Taking into consideration fact, that SysGears provides our clients with full-cycle development solutions, so it`s about outsourcing type of development. It helps our clients to spend their budget cost-effectively and bring all the difficulties related to the development of SysGear`s shoulders.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
We charge our clients every month, depending on what amount of hours had been spent.
Do you take in projects which meet your essential budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We try not to take projects with the budget lower than 15000$ because of the short time frames of such projects. It directly effects on team`s onboarding and analyzing all client`s requirements for developing the right solution and bringing value to the client`s business.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
For the last years, our project`s rate is from 37 to 55 $ per hour.
Obviously, the cost depends on the amount of work that should be done, so before starting any work, we create the SOW(statement of work) with a detailed feature list.
We create the estimate for each task with low and high cases - by summarizing these numbers, we get the rough estimate of time, then it`s multiplied on the hourly rate, and we get the low and high case of project's cost.
