The client is a traditional book publishing company primarily in Sweden but they have a structure in place where they think on how to design apps based on the content of some of their books, particularly the lifestyle and exercise books. Wezom Mobile was involved in developing an application for them based on a book of Yin Yoga for the Android and iOS platforms in English and Swedish languages. Wezom Mobile took a little more time than what was committed but that was because of some additional requirements from the client; they were flexible with the price and completed the project within the specified budget.

The client is quite happy with Wezom Mobile because of their competitive pricing and flexibility and they highly recommend them to their colleagues.

I was very pleased working with Wezom.
I needed professionals to develop my complex and expensive project.
It was very important to me that the developers had all the necessary competencies and skills to be responsible for the entire development as a whole.
So that I could trust developers more, I went for 800 km to see the studio with my own eyes and communicate with managers.
The meeting went well. I found the studio large and well-equipped.
Straight after the meeting, we signed a contract.
Thru all the development time the project manager was available for communication and answered my inquiries even Sunday evening!
I am very glad that I entrusted my project development to this studio.
It was a wonderful experience!

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

competencies and skills, responsiveness

Native app development for iOS and Android, not afraid to work with new unfamiliar tasks and doing it well, very good in basics, but not always qualitatively tests their work results (lack of time in sprints btw). More than 2 years of cooperation =)

I had a pleasure to work with people from Wezom. They needed to do a complex project and they did a great job. We're satisfied with a result and can highly recommend this company for web development.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

Flexibility and professionalism.

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

I don't know what they can improve... In our case sometimes making a decision about something took a little longer then it could be. But again, final result is great.

Executive Interview
Sergey Guzenko
Sergey Guzenko
Co-Founder, WEZOM
Please introduce your company.
The "Wezom Mobile" company is the independent mobile department of big "Wezom studio". First of all Wezom mobile focused on native mobile application development. Founded in august 2013. We are making on turnkey apps: server part ("Wezom CMS 4.03" own development, built on PHP), design, mock-up, and of course the mobile apps coding. We are making applications for Android and iOS platforms (Objective-С, Swift, and Java)
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app?
The critical parameters are the technical brief, or SOW (statement of work).
Mainly:
- Size and complexity of the task
- Clarity of technical brief (sometimes a lot of time goes to clarify all the details of the project)
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile application?
As we are using the moc server (Google cloud based) for checking app before backend is ready, so their development goes at the same time. Usually, backend takes 10-15% more time than the application coding. However, there can be exceptions. Using the moc server give us an opportunity to check the API, test data etc. and speed up development time.
What is your company’s business model?
Wezom Mobile is outsourcing company. However, we are thinking about own projects in the next future.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
The main office is based in not big (not the small but still not big :) City of Ukraine. Therefore, our rates are lower than in Capital for example or the EU or US. And the quality is still high. Some clients pick us for it.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
We are strong native app Development Company. At this time, we have just a few cross-platform developers since this year. The most important in choosing the right platform is the technical brief, mockup, and functionality.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The key factors is developers quantity needed for dealing with the particular task, them working time multiplied by developer’s personal rate.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients?
We have few, recent years formed, payment models: shorter than month projects we bill by fixed price. Normally it is 50/50%, half before starting and half at the end. For longer projects, we are using Scrum and billing by sprints. It gives clients the possibility to see and control the whole process of development and make some adjustments between the sprints. Which is also comfortable for developers.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement?
Our minimum budget requirement is 1200$. We can accept the project with full design, mockup, and in-app engineering ready. So basically it includes one developer and the QA specialist.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2015?
The lowest cost app was $1250 (Alarm Security Button).
And max price range was $91k (the Trucking Industry)
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
Usually, our clients are the business owners. And we don't have to recommend them how to generate revenue from mobile applications. Mostly, it is direct incomes via integrated payment systems thru the apps for different services and products. However, sometimes it is direct monetization by selling apps thru stores. We had also a social project and enterprise apps.
