It is not a big issue for me but some of the exported settings on the 3d models were a bit off but working around them is easy so it was not that big of a deal I suggest familiarizing the team with unreal engine’s export setting so that the process of importing the models would be seamless and easy

Excellent delivery with a very demanding deadline

Whimsy Games took up a task that seemed impossible.

In order to meed the deadlines which were forced by our partner Casino provider, we needed to deliver everything in 5 weeks after the introduction call between the two companies.

So, with 4 weeks for actual production, Whimsy received a detailed brief of the project, we discussed details in a meeting and they started immediately.

A project timeline was conducted by them and accepted by us.
Only 2 days after the start of the project, we received the 1st concept arts which were right on point.
The delivery process throught the 4 weeks was swift and all the deliverables were of very high quality, minimizing the need for back and forth adjustments which would stall the final product.

Not only the deadline was met, but the quality of their work was beyond what we hoped for.

The product that we are in the process of developing requires technical skill, flexibility, commitment, creativity and determination. Perfect app design

I had an excellent experience cooperating with Whimsy Games. I needed to improve an existing app, add new features, and start to promote it on Google Play and App Store. Honestly, there was much work to do, and I could hardly believe that I would get such a great result. Step by step, Whimsy Games changed and improved the user interface, adjusted the color palette, and graphic elements. The app became easier to navigate so that everyone could find the desired tab or feature in the shortest time. Based on the Whimsy Games analysis, we've entirely altered colors. Designers used a dimmed palette, so it didn't distract from using the app. Moreover, the team advised new icons to help users find all they need much faster.

Professional concept art services for video games

It was a great pleasure to work with an art director who arranged every step of our cooperation, and I could get the concept art in the shortest time. Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.

We are Whimsy Games, a game development company. Our team provides all types of Unity-based game creation services: 2D and 3D art, game design, game development, UI/UX design, QA, and Project Management.

Our company is based in Ukraine. The fully distributed team of 30 people unites experienced professionals passionate about their job. We’ve been on the market for five years, successfully completing more than 70 projects. Over 40 satisfied clients can confirm that. We are proud that Clutch and Goodfirms listed our company in the top-5 of our industry in the world.

My name is Denis, and I'm 27 years old. I used to work as a developer and a team lead in huge game development studios with a monthly income of more than $1 mln. I’ve amassed experience and management skills, traffic marketing, and analytics during that stage in my career. I’ve learned how game development should work.

This path led me to become the CEO and the Co-Founder of Whimsy Games. Marketing and sales of our products and services are among my main responsibilities in our company.

What is the story behind starting this company?

I guess you will find the story quite exciting. At least, it was an exciting and life-changing experience for me.

As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve worked in game development companies. I was good at my job, having enough skills and experience to solve any tasks. But I realized that I wanted to move further.

I had an idea to start a pet project, which could bring me more income and experience. Thus, I could open a new path for growth. However, I understood that I needed knowledgeable and reliable partners to be successful.

I reached out to two of my friends and shared my plans with them. All three of us put our heads together — and decided to give it a try. At first, I devoted to this side project some free time I had to spare. But later, we realized that we ran into something big — much bigger than our small team could handle.

We weren’t profitable at the time, so we had to use our salaries to pay our first employee. Nevertheless, by that time, we had a firm belief in our endeavor. We’ve started to look for more people, offering at first $3 an hour at Upwork. We hired the second developer, and the events began to unfold quickly.

Now, several years later, a company of 30 people, dozens of completed projects, and happy clients are the testimony to our success. And I’m pleased I took that leap in the dark, which led me to become a part of this beautiful team.

Whimsy Games is an outsourcing company with an in-house team of 30 people based in Ukraine. It is fully distributed, but we also have an office we can work at in case of necessity. However, if a project requires some specialists we don’t have, we either work together with our partners or bring freelancers on board.

We at Whimsy Games are proud that our company always gets 5-star reviews from the clients. The key to success is continuous communication with the client. We organize regular calls with our customers, obtaining and analyzing their feedback.

Besides, we try to educate our clients, providing sound advice and recommendations. Our goal is to grow together with them, accumulating more knowledge, skills, and experience.

Moreover, we understand the importance of deadlines. Our team strives to deliver high-quality results as soon as possible.

What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

We do our best to provide a top experience for our clients. A dedicated account manager supports them from the very beginning. Each client gets round-the-clock assistance at every stage of game creation. Even more than that, we stay in touch after the game release, providing maintenance and bug fixes.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

The client’s comfort is our prime concern. We want to be as flexible as possible and always try to achieve a win-win outcome for both sides. Therefore, we use any payment structure, which is convenient for the client.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

We try to get involved in projects, which are exciting and profitable for us. But we are also watchful for the strength of the client’s interest and commitment. The client should have an idea, be motivated enough to pursue the project, and be willing to pay at our rates. Everything else is our job. We guide and support our customers, design and develop the products for them to the best of our ability.
We try to avoid very small projects, setting the minimum requirement at $5k.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?

Last year the range was quite wide. The smallest project cost was $4,5k, while the price of the largest one reached $137k.

Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?

We are proud of our achievements to date, and our long-term goals are quite ambitious. Whimsy Games is among the top companies in game development outsourcing globally — but we believe we can be in the first position on that list.

Besides, in the next ten years, we want to be among the top 10 product companies globally. To achieve that we’ll need a larger team, so we plan to increase our headcount to 50+ employees. And we expect our net profit to grow with the company, exceeding $1mln a month.
