Overview
About Caixa Mgica Software
Caixa Mágica Software is a Portuguese software company founded in Lisbon in 2004 as a spin-off of ADETTI, the research centre at ISCTE. It delivers custom software development, nearshore engineering teams and applied AI for clients across Europe, with a focus on Portugal, Germany and the UK.
The company has 20+ years of production delivery, including the open-source middleware for the Portuguese Citizen Card, built in 2011 and maintained since, and the national eID middleware for Cabo Verde, which received ESOP's Abertura Award in 2021. It built the Covid Pass app for INCM, which passed one million downloads, and CRAV, the single digital desk serving all 18 archives under Portugal's Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries.
Products include Qualigentic, an agentic AI platform for software quality that produces audit evidence for DORA, Solvency II and PSD2; eID Box, digital identity middleware for smart card integration; and Stageless AI, an AI virtual staging platform for real estate. The company is a member of the Claude Partner Network with Anthropic-certified architects on the team.
Nearshore engineering teams start at €35/hr, with candidate profiles in two weeks and a one-month minimum commitment. As an EU member state, Portugal means GDPR compliance, EU employment law and data residency apply without third-country transfer, with CET timezone alignment for UK and DACH clients.
