I highly recommend Encure IT.
After developing a complete specification, the development of the application started in excellent conditions. A team was appointed with a designer, a project manager and a development manager. Several modifications could have been made during development without modifying the initial budget envelope. The team is serious and responsive and this over a long time slot. Follow-up in the event of a bug is almost immediate. Exchanges are made in English but an interlocutor is available by appointment for exchanges in French. I highly recommend this company and I am in contact with my contact every week to develop the application.

There are times when you as a parent feel a sense of disconnect between you and your kid's school. So be it regular communication with the teachers, holiday due to heavy rains at the eleventh hour, or your kid’s progress report. It can also be seeing your kids drawing on the notice board, enjoying the proud moment and feeling that your kid is missing out on his/her share of appreciation.

We, at ChalkTalk, realized this communication gap between parents and the schools. We understand that children’s creative work in any form needs to be appreciated and shared across the channels and not just at the schools notice board.

The idea germinated with the launch of a monthly newsletter (Splash papers) to encourage students to do more and get acknowledged for their talent. After an overwhelming response, we culminated with a decision to take this idea ahead and digitize it. Digitization was the need of the hour and that’s how ChalkTalk App came into existence.

Extensive brainstorming, research, surveys and interviews with parents, teachers, students, and management authorities helped this App to have a robust background. A fully functional app was launched in July 2015 that addressed pain points of each & every stakeholder involved.

How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?

We have set models which work typically for most of our clients, we are quite open to working out an engagement model that justifies the development and delivery of the solution based on the end client’s business.

Every project is unique and requires special treatment. Depending on the scope of the project, the team required, and the timeline we have to deliver the solution we sketch out a plan for each project.

Projects we deliver are liked by users that our clients have, with good user acquisition and retention since the beginning and hence they sign a contract with us for maintenance of their products for enhancements of features and functionalities in a regular cycle, which gives us 60-70% repetitive clients.

Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.

To determine the time frame of developing a mobile app is not fixed it depends on the features and functionality it holds. Each feature comes with its level of complexity, and collectively this establishes the delivery timeframe of a mobile app.

How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?

It depends upon the complexity of the front end and back end of the system, If the Application is simple and the system has to just display data and no API integration, no third-party integration then the front end and backend are not complex, however, if there are complex algorithms, API integration and Third-party incorporated in the backend, in such cases things are different.

To give percentage front end may take up to 40% of the time, while backend consumes major time, almost 60% that included API’s too.

What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?

End-users need to be understood while determining the platform for development. If your end-users consist of Android users then you shall opt for Android first over iOS once you have seen user response. We’ve seen many clients choosing to go for the “Android-First” approach - because most of the end-users have Android devices worldwide than iOS. Once they get user reviews and feedback on Android applications, they opt for iOS Application.

Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?

As I just mentioned, it depends upon the target audience E.g., if you are developing an app for Asia this shall be Android first; however, if your target market is the US and European Market then developing iOS first is a better option.
Also, if you need to do market research on your product then you must go with Android first since the user base is large and it is cost-effective compared to iOS.

Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?

Since hybrid and native apps have their strengths and weaknesses as well as different companies have different objectives, budget and time restrictions, marketing strategies, and business life cycle stages. There will not be the right answer for everyone. Therefore both hybrid and native app development might turn to be the best approach for different projects.

What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?

The primary attributes that determine the costs of a Mobile Application is the features, Functionality, and timeline required that are there within the application.
Apart from this, there are a few other attributes like:
•   Technology to be used to develop application Native app or hybrid.
•   Any third part API integration or dependency
•   Type of UI/UX required
•   Timeline for the application to be developed
•   RnD on any complex feature
•   Number of resources required etc.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

We work on three models:
•   Fixed Cost where we finalize the project on a fixed cost and payments are broken up into milestones, which are directly linked to delivery milestones.
•   Hire a dedicated team of experts who directly works with clients on a day-to-day basis. For dedicated teams, we charge on monthly basis for each resource.
•   Hourly Basis this is for small task and projects.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

We often work with projects that we believe are interesting maybe it is smaller in size as well. We have worked with projects costing more than 10,000$ and have also worked with projects having a 500$ budget.

We have also worked with a lot of MVPs (minimum viable products). This MVP is in form of a smaller prototype to show implementation of the whole concept.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?

The average project size that we worked for falls between $2K & $30K. However, we also have a few long-term projects more than worth $80,000 and many that were very close to them.

Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?

We majorly invest our initial time is discussing and understanding the client’s requirements, we always prefer suggesting the freemium model to my clients where users download the app for free and if they find the app valuable, they could pay for the additional features.

Then when end-users start using the application then charge them after a certain period. OTT platforms like Spotify and Uber are the best examples.

If the client is a start-up, we suggest going with an MVP approach. MVP is in form of a smaller prototype, concept, or just a lightweight implementation of the whole concept. These are generally smaller projects but help our clients to test the waters before diving in too deep.
