We've been around for more than 20 years now (so I guess we're here to stay) and we had the chance to gather quite an interesting amount of experience in different design fields such as Corporate Identity, Print and Web Design.

We provide our customers with a creative and unique approach to solve their problems. Actually just their communication problems, we don't do magic. Not yet.

Our mission is simple, we work till you're happy. No buts.

Executive Interview
Diego Matias Wasergold
Diego Matias Wasergold
Studio Manager, Filez
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Filez is a Marketing & Design Agency with offices in Argentina and theUnited States that offers services through the internet around the world.

With almost 20 years in the business, we now have extensive experience in Brand Strategy, Brand Experiences, Corporate Identity,Print, and Web Design.

We provide creative, consultative service to clients concerning how best to meet their objectives in terms of communication.

I have 20 years of designing background. I work as Studio Manager at Filez, getting involved in Design and Implementation processes. I enjoy challenges and new technologies research and development.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Back in 2001 Argentina was going through a very hard economic and social crisis.

My girlfriend, Paola (now my wife) and I, both newly graduated from University with a BA in Graphic Design, decided to look for opportunities in other countries. We were young and enthusiastic. So we created an amazing cover letter and started emailing companies in the US who might need graphic designers.

After a couple of weeks, we received some responses, but none of the companies were willing to provide us a Visa to work in the US, except one: a little printing company in Ocala, FL. After some days of emails going back and forth, the owner found a local designer, so we were back at point zero. Not ready to give it up, we continued sending emails and at the same time learning some new softwares: Dreamweaver and Flash.

One Sunday afternoon, I was checking my email, when surprisingly, I found an email from someone working at JDK, in Burlington, Vermont. I read it more than twice to be sure I was reading correctly and called Diego and Jonathan (his brother and our partner): "We received and email from someone from a very big agency ,not interested in hiring us to move there, but to work from here, but the strangest thing is that he is requesting us to quote the three briefs attached to the email". Diego quickly responded: "Sure, let's quote them". But what I haven't mentioned yet, was that the briefs were: one for Nike Hockey, the other one for Coke, and the last one for MOMA NY.

I could for sure say that was the beginning of Filez.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
A combination of the three. It depends on the project or the challenge we are presented.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
One of our most appreciated strengths is our flexible structure and our ability to adapt without losing consistency and focus. If your project requires two designers, one copywriter and one plumber, that's exactly what you'll get.

Plus, our dog Confite is really really efficient, he does all the dirty work.

We provide our customers with a creative and unique approach to solve their problems. Actually, just their communication problems, we don’t do magic. Not yet.
Our mission is simple, we work till you’re happy. No buts.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
In the past years we have worked a lot for FinTech companies, for example PayPal, IDB or World Bank, but besides this particular niche, we have not had in so many years I business a particular industry we cater, our clients come from different countries and different industries.

Clients are repetitive yes, I would say in a 80% ratio.
Mention the parameters which are most important for you in developing anweb design.
Purpose + navigation + user experience + mobile friendly.
What key aspects do you keep in mind while developing a web design in order to enhance its usability?
We design with some very straight ideas in mind: Readability, space layout (white, backgrounds, textures) and we make a great point out of page loading and responsive design.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right framework for web design?
The project itself is the key parameter to us, the requirements and what is the purpose of the website is what determines the framework that we will use.
Which framework do you suggest your clients to go for when they approach you with an idea? Why?
Again it depends on the project; we understand each project has its special requirements and needs.
What are your recommendations when it comes to developing a web design? Which framework do you suggest on working with?
Again it depends on the project; we understand each project has its special requirements and needs.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a website design?
The size of the project, whether it involves ecommerce or not and the time it will take to get it done.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
Pay per milestone.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We are open to all possibilities to make things work between us and the client.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
$1000 - $10000
