Mobile game development and design

They are able to produce work that is of a very high standard. They also strive to deliver projects within budget.
Even more importantly, Kevuru Games does a very good job at communication. We don't speak any Ukrainian, but this hasn't been a problem. Most of the team seems to read and write English pretty well. Also, they respond to each email we send in a timely manner. This is important because we are located in the United States, and if they don't respond, we lose a day of production time.
For us, this level of service and commitment is what makes them stand apart from other third party developers. We highly recommend working with Kevuru Games.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

I really liked the opportunity to immediately get the preliminary cost of the project and transparent communication in the process

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

I think nothing, communication is fast and efficient, the quality is at a high level

2D character animation for a mobile game

Manfred Fischer

We did 2D animation characters with Kevuru Games. I've known them for years as a company with good pricing and speed, broad skillset and sufficient size to take on larger projects if needed. Sales people are always quick to respond and projects can get off the ground very quickly. Project management is solid and the online communication tool works well. I like the quick communication in good English language, the responses from my project manager were always quick and changes were processed fast. I'm content with the projects we have done so far.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

It's great that the team adapts well to different needs and, if necessary, quickly changes the composition of the performers

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

Top-class animators work here and we have no complaints

Optimization, Bug Fixing and UX/UI for a Gaming Company

mark muller
posted on 8/6/21
Our space simulation project was almost complete, but a number of critical issues were discovered that were preventing the final release. We needed help fixing bugs, optimizing and localizing the game, adjusting victory conditions, and creating a tutorial. We also decided to completely redesign the interface, so we needed help with UX / UI issues. We were looking for a company with experienced Unity developers and skillful artists who could easily pick up work on a game with a fairly complex topic.

We had a need to rework and refine various aspects of the game, so we needed a large and experienced team with diverse specialists who can work together effectively. Kevuru Games provided us with such a team.

The game was not ready either in terms of optimization or in terms of a good interface. It didn't even work on the most powerful hardware. It was also full of legacy bugs, ended when the player had accumulated a certain amount of money, and often left the player in a stupor for lack of priorities for next steps.

Therefore, the Kevuru Games team faced several tasks at once in different directions:
1. Full immersion in the game code in order to find optimization solutions.
2. Working with the interface and UX/UI.
3. Elimination of errors.
4. Modification of the conditions of winning.
5. Creation of an understandable and comprehensive tutorial.
6. Localization.

The team was given all the necessary access to the source code of the game and its graphics. There was a lot of work, so they immediately got down to business.

The team worked on the tasks as problems appeared in the gameplay and prepared builds for demonstration. Intermediate calls occurred weekly, during which we provided feedback on the builds we received and tested.

Open access to all elements of the game imposes a serious responsibility on the performer. Therefore, we agreed in advance about the mandatory preservation of all confidential information regarding key concepts, code and game models. Thanks to this, cooperation was not overshadowed by mistrust and excessive suspicion in transferring important components of the game to an external team. This allowed us to optimize cooperation and make it as transparent as possible.

Full-cycle mobile game development

Mark Strong
posted on 9/6/21
We are a gaming company that creates games for mobile devices on Android and iOS. Our goal was to create a match-three game for Android and iOS from scratch.
We chose this particular vendor because the works in their portfolio seemed to us very close to what we needed for our future game. We ordered a full-cycle game development, so Kevuru Games took over absolutely all the work of creating the game, from art to testing.
First, we approved the concept and design, then the team submitted a prototype for our review, and only then we gave the go-ahead to write the code. The team has implemented testing of the game and provided us with a finished polished product ready for release in the stores we needed. The game turned out to be very bright and exciting and found an excellent response among the players
We always received timely answers to our questions and requests from the project manager, and the team quickly implemented the necessary edits and our wishes for design and mechanics
In our opinion, the most impressive thing is that the company knows how to assemble the perfect team to create a game from scratch. At the same time, all people work perfectly, harmoniously, and consistently. The team was always willing to stay late, come in early and make time for us even with these obstacles and the time difference.
We really enjoyed working with Kevuru Games, and we have no complaints or comments.

3D Character Modeling for Animation Studio

Angela Brightson
posted on 16/6/21
We hired a team for 3D character modeling so that we could further make animation based on them. We needed highly detailed 3D gladiator models. We know that this company is engaged in 3D modeling and has a lot of experience. Since we needed the models quickly, we decided to contact an experienced company in the hope that they would be able to cope with the tight deadlines. We had specific requirements for creating 3D models of gladiators. The team provided us with the concepts of their vision of gladiators, we approved them, and the modelers got down to work. We received the models that we needed on time and in accordance with our wishes. It is very good that the team adapts to the needs and deadlines of the client, no matter how tight they may be.

2D Art and Animation for a Voice Game

Sophie Austin
posted on 15/6/21
Our project is a quest, where the player needs to use his or her voice to cast spells on enemies and clear their way. The goal was to create bright and attractive art that would attract and captivate players. The 2D art portfolio of this company seemed to us suitable for our needs
The work proceeded according to the classical pattern. We provided the company with information about the plot and the intended stylistics of the characters. The team developed the concepts, after the approval of which they started working on 2D characters. After everything was ready, the animation team began work on developing the movements for the created characters.
We launched the project at the desired time, and it has already become quite popular among lovers of conversational entertainment
It's really pleasant to work with this team, they grasp all the tasks and our needs on the fly and quickly implement everything that is needed
The project was large-scale and we are very satisfied with the result, no complaints.

Creation of 2D Characters Design for Mobile Game

Emma Louise
posted on 16/6/21
We needed the services of 2D artists to create 2D characters for our simulation game, released for Android and iOS
We chose a team where we could find good 2D artists with extensive experience
At first, the team provided us with character concepts based on our requests and references. After approval, the artists began sketching, implemented detailed illustrations of the characters' faces and 2D rendering for maximum realism.
The artists worked on several characters at once, which made it possible to significantly speed up the work.
We worked with art director, lead 2D character artist, project manager and 2D artists, the number of which fluctuated depending on the number of tasks
All new characters were introduced into the game in new chapters, which helped improve the player engagement rate by 33%.The work was fast and well-established, the managers perfectly coordinated the communication
It's great that each artist offered his or her vision of the character and different possibilities to implement visual solutions, and not just worked according to our instructions

2D Animation of Characters, Assets and Environments for Mobile and Browser Games

A
posted on 16/6/21
We hired the Kevuru Games team to create 2D animations for improvement of 2 our games. Our goal was to create high quality 2D animations that would make our game more fun and interesting for the players.
We have been working with Kevuru Games for a long time and know about their excellent expertise in 2D animation. Therefore, when we had the appropriate tasks, we immediately turned to this team.
We had two projects. For these games, the team animated a huge number of elements, characters, assets, environments, buildings, vehicles, and the animators also worked on the interface elements and the loading screen. A huge amount of work was done. The success of the results was largely due to the excellent work of the project managers and the timely response to our feedback.
The quality of the animation matched the scale of our games and fit in perfectly: this was important because we have a multi-million audience of players around the world. We always knew that we could rely on the animation team since communication was always clear and transparent, and all our edits and wishes were immediately taken into account.
We have no comments or suggestions as we are absolutely satisfied with the work of Kevuru Games.

Executive Interview
Oleg Goncharenko
Oleg Goncharenko
CEO & Owner, KEVURU GAMES
Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
Our company page on GoodFirms regularly brings us monthly leads (10-15% of the total) and several hundred visits to our website.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
My name is Oleg Goncharenko, I am the CEO and owner of the Kevuru Games company, founded in 2011. Now Kevuru Games is a leading European game art and development studio creating entertainment projects for game publishers.

For 10+ years of work, we have delivered more than 100 projects and have been dedicated to the creation of such world-famous projects as Fortnite (Epic Games), Star Wars (Lucasfilm), BigFarm, Empire: Age of Knights (Goodgame Studios), etc.
We are proud of our successful partnerships with clients that are among the world's top 20 digital entertainment companies: Electronic Arts, Bandai Namco, Epic Games, Lucasfilm, etc.

With over 300 full-time professionals, Kevuru Games specializes in such areas:
●    full-cycle game development;
●    art creation (2D, AAA);
●    animation (2D, 3D);
●    porting;
●    QA.
What is the story behind starting this company?
The Kevuru Games company began its journey with the independent development of game projects. These were casual games for mobile devices. Later, the studio began to acquire the first clients who needed help in creating 2D and 3D game art for their projects, as well as co-development and full-cycle development services. After 5 years, we completely immersed ourselves in the client business and expanded our expertise in order to meet the requests for different art styles, game genres, and more.
What is your company’s business model – in-house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We work according to the models of outsourcing (80%) and outstaffing (20%). Sometimes we work together with other contractor companies on co-development projects.

Outsourcing is the practice of transferring certain tasks and functions by a client company to a contractor company that specializes in the relevant field. Having the appropriate expertise in different game areas, we can offer our clients to outsource the tasks of creating 2D/3D game art and animation, game development, game porting, game testing, etc.

Outstaffing is one of the remote employment options, in which the team performing the entire required range of work of the client company is legally another company (outsourcing agency). The latter acts as an employer, which means it is responsible for the wages, bonuses, and equipment provided to the employee, while the client company issues tasks and assignments to the employees.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
We can highlight several key areas of our work that make us stand out.

●    Experience and reputation. We have been working in the gaming market for 10 years. During this time, we have established ourselves as a creative, professional, and diligent partner, trusted by many top gaming publishers: EA, Epic Games, Lucasfilm, Socialpoint, Goodgame Studios, and others.

●    360 Degree Services Lines. We provide full-cycle services, that is, in addition to individual tasks for art, we can implement any other task related to the development of a game: game design, animation, development, testing, UI/UX, porting, and so on. Any service can be implemented both separately to meet specific business needs, and in a complex way to create a game from scratch.

●    Transparent processes. All our processes in any department, from PMs to artists and developers, are completely transparent. Clients always know and understand exactly what team they are working with, clearly see what is happening at each stage of work and how long it will take to work on a project.

●    The highest standards of project management. We have a few levels of assessment on each project utilizing fine-tuned pipelines for style consistency & delivery on time.

●    Seasoned high-level specialists. Strict quality control guarantees impeccably performed work in accordance with international standards. Consistently high quality is backed by the fact that 60-70% of our company's employees are senior and middle-level specialists. Some of our team leads have more than 20 years of experience in their art direction.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
80% of our clients are game publishers, for whom we develop art and animation, or studios similar to ours, with which we conduct joint projects. More than 60% of the clients do another project within a year, and more than 90% of the clients are doing another project within 2-3 years.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
The most popular services are the creation of 2D and 3D art for games of various genres for different devices. The second place rightfully goes to the full-cycle game development, which includes a full package of services: game design, concept creation, art and animation creation, UI/UX design, development, and testing.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
90% of our clients are satisfied with the cooperation with us. 60% of them recommend us to their partners and acquaintances.

In order to fully understand the essence of the client's request, before starting the project, we hold special meetings with the participation of leads and PMs to ask all the necessary questions to the client and get a complete picture of the project. After that, we form an estimate that describes in detail all stages of the project. Throughout the work, we agree with clients on a convenient mode of calls with our team: daily, weekly, and so on. We also regularly conduct internal syncs, where teams discuss their project progress, share details, and best practices. In addition to PMs and leads, business executives are actively involved in the project to understand how to correctly form and adjust estimates for the timely delivery of all information to the client about whether everything is going according to plan or the planned hours have already been exceeded. As the CEO of the company, I am also always aware of the progress of each project.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
Since we are not a product company, we do not have separately developed support systems. However, our clients, if they wish, can always leave their feedback on cooperation with us on the GoodFirms platform or provide it to us for posting on our website.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We offer services to our clients based on several interaction models that can be tailored to their specific needs. The client can choose one of the available models or combine them.

Our business models include the following options:

●    Fixed price. We offer innovative software solutions at a fixed price: it is based on detailed project specifications.
●    Time and Material (T&M). T&M pricing includes pricing for flexible procedures and flexible project execution. This model is suitable for long-term projects with changing requirements.

Our operational models include the following options:

●    Outsourcing managed delivery. We offer not only an experienced team capable of delivering services but also a managed delivery service to ensure the comprehensive execution of all services.
●    Dedicated team. A dedicated offshore team is offered as a complement to the client's infrastructure with full support and access to all resources and facilities.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If not, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We prioritize art projects from $ 20,000 and game development projects from $ 100,000. The cost will depend on the scale of the project, the number of required specialists, the art style or genre of the game, as well as the client's wishes in terms of timing.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
In 2020, we worked on projects ranging from $ 10,000 (individual artwork) to $ 1,500,000 (full-cycle AAA game development, from art creation to testing, over a period of 1.5 years).
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
Over the next 10 years, we plan to continue to expand the pool of game development services, as well as highlight PC/console game development, co-development, porting as a strategic focus consulting, functional QA, localization, and marketing services. To do this, we want to continue to attract talented specialists to the company at the expense of not only domestic but also foreign specialists, as well as focus on a long-term educational strategy for the Unreal Engine team.
